💚 Could gratitude actually help with weight maintenance?

Weight maintenance isn’t just about what’s on your plate — your mindset matters, too.

Practicing gratitude can help you:
✨ Reduce stress and emotional eating
🥗 Feel more mindful about your food choices
🧠 Build a positive, sustainable mindset
💪 Stay motivated with healthy habits
😊 Find more joy in the process

Instead of focusing only on what you need to change, take a moment to recognize what you’re already doing well. Every healthy choice, every walk, every balanced meal, every time you get back on track — those things count!

Try this today: Write down 3 things you’re grateful for that have nothing to do with the number on the scale. 💙

What’s one thing you’re grateful for on your health journey? 👇

🍂 COPING WITH SEASONAL EATING & CRAVINGS

Pumpkin spice. Cozy casseroles. Halloween candy. Holiday cookies. 🍪

As the seasons change, so do the foods around us—and it’s completely normal to have stronger cravings for certain foods this time of year.

The goal isn't to avoid every seasonal treat. It's learning how to enjoy them without letting one food turn into an entire season of feeling off track.

✨ TRY THESE TIPS:

🍽️ Don't skip meals to “save calories.”
Going into the evening overly hungry can make cravings much harder to manage. Stick with your normal meal routine and prioritize protein.

🥣 Build balanced meals first.
Protein + vegetables + appropriate portions of carbohydrates can help you feel satisfied and make treats easier to enjoy mindfully.

🎃 Choose what is actually worth it.
You don't have to eat every seasonal food just because it's available. Pick the foods you genuinely enjoy and skip the ones that aren't worth it to you.

🍪 Have a portion—don't eat from the package.
Put your treat on a plate or in a small bowl, sit down, and enjoy it. This can help prevent mindless grazing.

💧 Keep up with hydration.
Busy schedules and cooler weather can make it easy to forget about fluids. Keep your water bottle nearby!

❤️ Drop the guilt.
Eating a cookie, piece of pie, or your favorite seasonal food doesn't mean you've “failed.” One choice doesn't undo your progress.

⭐ Remember:
You don't need to be perfect through the holidays or changing seasons. Focus on your habits most of the time and give yourself room to enjoy special foods intentionally.

A simple trick that actually works after bariatric surgery!

Did you know your environment can support your nutrition goals just as much as your willpower? One of the easiest tools: using smaller plates and bowls.

🍽️ Why It Helps
After bariatric surgery, your portions are naturally smaller — but large dinner plates can make healthy portions look tiny, leading to:
• Eating past fullness
• Grazing to “fill the plate”
• Feeling mentally unsatisfied
Downsizing your plate helps your mind match your new stomach size.

✨ How to Make It Work
1️⃣ Use a 6–8 inch plate
Perfect for bariatric portions:
Protein: 3–4 oz
Veggies: ½ cup
Complex carb/fruit: ¼ cup

2️⃣ Fill protein first
Place protein in the center, then add veggies and carbs around it. This keeps you aligned with bariatric guidelines.

3️⃣ Use small bowls for snacks
Great for:
Greek yogurt
Cottage cheese
Protein puddings
Fruit servings

4️⃣ Avoid eating from large bags/containers
Portion into a small dish to avoid mindless grazing.

5️⃣ Add color + height
Pretty plates feel more satisfying:
Choose colorful produce
Add herbs, lemon, or spices
Stack foods for visual fullness

🌟 Why This Matters Long-Term
Small environmental changes help you:
✔️ Eat mindfully
✔️ Prevent overeating
✔️ Avoid grazing cycles
✔️ Stay consistent with weight-loss goals

🥶 QUICK FREEZER IDEAS YOU CAN BUY & KEEP AT WORK!

No time to meal prep? Keep a few easy options in your work freezer so you always have something available when you need a quick lunch or snack!

Here are some easy freezer staples to look for:

🍗 Frozen grilled chicken
Look for fully cooked chicken strips or grilled chicken pieces. Pair with a microwaveable vegetable for a quick, protein-packed meal.

🥦 Single-serve frozen vegetables
These are SO convenient for work!
Try Birds Eye Steam fresh options like:
• Broccoli
• Green beans
• Brussels sprouts
• Broccoli & cauliflower
• Normandy blend

Many can be cooked right in the bag in the microwave.

🥚 Frozen egg bites
Great for a quick breakfast or snack. Look for options that provide a good amount of protein without a lot of added sugar.

🍲 Frozen soups & chili
Keep a few protein-containing options on hand for those days you don't have lunch packed.

🍝 Protein-focused frozen meals
Look for meals built around a protein source, then add a serving of frozen vegetables if the meal is lacking veggies.

🍖 Frozen meatballs
Easy to heat up and pair with vegetables, a small portion of pasta, or a wrap.

🐟 Frozen fish
If your workplace has an air fryer or another way to cook it, frozen fish can be another easy option to keep on hand.

⭐ DON'T FORGET THE 15/10/5 RULE!
15g+ PROTEIN
10g or less SUGAR
5g or less FAT

This is a simple way to help you choose options that better support your nutrition goals—even when you're relying on convenience foods!

💡 The goal isn't perfect meal prep.
It's having a few easy options available so that being busy doesn't automatically mean skipping a meal or grabbing whatever is closest.
