My latest article (link below) explores toxic femininity β€” what it is, where it comes from, and the inner work we're all being called to do. (Also featuring a story about a Halloween party that explains a lot.) We can't keep calling out men while ignoring our own shadow side. That's tender for some to hear right now, but hear me out, I've got everyone's best interest in mind.

As an acupuncturist and qi gong practitioner, I've learned that healing happens when yin and yang - equal and opposite forces - are harmonized. Yin is the feminine element. Yang is the masculine. Water and Fire. Night and Day. It's the never ending dance of polarity.

A healthy feminine rebirths the masculine - this is one way of describing the point of the yin /yang symbol where the fullest black part starts to turn into the tiny white part. The masculine sparks new life in the feminine - you can see this on the other side of the same symbol ☯.

When women reclaim their feminine energy in a healthy way β€” not as performance or as manipulative magnetism, but as genuine embodied nurturing (and nurtured) presence β€” something shifts in the relational field around them.

Men feel it. The polarity rebalances and it invites a more healthy masculine energy β€” directed, powerful, and noble β€” to step up and find somewhere to land. When men do their inner work, the opposite is true. We help each other level up.

When we heal the hurt in women, we stop the hurt caused by women. When we heal the hurt in men, we stop the hurt caused by men. This takes effort, it takes both sides working on it, and it takes honest dialogue. Let's talk about it.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), fall is associated with the metal element and the emotion of grief, which is considered to be held in the lungs.

As nature shows us how to let go with ease and beauty, it's a reminder to give ourselves space and grace to do the same.

🍁 In what ways can I let go, lighten up and declutter my home, my life, my emotional load?

πŸ‚ What grief have I not let myself feel? Can I give myself permission to feel it? To cry?

πŸƒThis is how we let go along with the trees.

According to 5 element theory, metal cuts wood. Wood is the element of the liver and is associated with the emotion of anger. When our metal element is blocked from unprocessed grief, it becomes harder to manage our feelings of anger.

I wrote about both these big feelings - grief and anger - in my latest blog posts which can be found here: drlaurachan.com/blog. Stay tuned for my upcoming post about femininity and the fire element πŸ”₯ and how it can burn out or blaze destructively in our lives... ☯

I have a lot to say on this topic, so I decided to finally say it (well, write it). It’s offered as the start of a conversation. I’d love to hear what you think.

This article is:
* Written for the men who are genuinely trying & written for the women who are trying to figure out how to express certain things that are not easy to name

* A nod of recognition to men who are exhibiting aspects of self-mastery, and how to develop more of it

* Recognition that female anger is often misplaced, not unjustified β€” understanding the difference changes everything

* Offering Practical, honest strategies for navigating todays landscape, de-escalating, staying grounded, communicating better, and finding the emotions beneath the anger

* A personal story about rage, healing, and what becomes possible when a man holds space

This piece is written for men who are genuinely trying. Men who are paying attention, who feel the weight of the relational dynamic, who want to have a better relationship with their partner or women in general.

I have something exciting coming up and wanted to make sure you hear about it:

On October 3rd, I'm co-hosting a half-day workshop with the wonderful Teresa Baker-Opland β€” and the topic feels deeply personal to me right now.

It's called The Energetics of Receiving.

As women, most of us are masters of giving, doing, achieving, and caring for others. Receiving? That's often another story entirely. And yet the capacity to receive β€” support, love, abundance, guidance, new possibilities β€” is not a luxury. It is the missing half of a circuit that, when open, changes everything.

Teresa and I will be exploring the beliefs, emotional patterns, and unconscious habits that make receiving feel difficult or even unsafe β€” and guiding you through practices to begin opening that channel. I'll be teaching simple Qi Gong practices specifically designed to support the energetics of receiving, and Teresa will be bringing her remarkable gifts as a healer and spiritual guide.

Together we'll help you discover what it feels like to be truly nourished.

The Details:

I wrote a deeply personal article about the loss and reclaiming of healthy feminine energy and why it matters for both men and women equally. If this resonates or sparks anything in you, I'd love to hear your thoughts- feel free to message me privately if that feels better than sharing publicly. Thank you. πŸ’œβ˜―οΈ

In a recent visit with a provider I see for wellness, the topic of grief came up. I deflected. I wasn't in acute grief. It didn't seem relevant. But this person skillfully persisted β€” noticing the way my voice and body language shifted when we touched on a particular relational change. They prescr...

I’m excited to be co-hosting a workshop with Teresa Baker-Opland next month. It’s all about the energetic of receiving.

As women, we are masters of giving and even over extending ourselves. But receiving? How do we allow ourselves to step into this state of being to support more feelings of being nourished, abundant, and fulfilled? Come join us to find out! I'll be teaching some simple Qi Gong practices to support the energetics of receiving.

Together, we’ll explore the beliefs and patterns that can make it difficult to receive what we desire β€” support, love, guidance, abundance, and new possibilities.

And discover what it means to feel safe enough to truly receive.
