Hair thinning is rarely linked to just one cause. Genetics, hormonal changes, nutrition, stress, medications, and underlying health conditions can all affect the scalp and hair follicles.

When a commercially available medication does not meet a patient's individual needs, Westmoreland Pharmacy + Compounding can work with your healthcare provider to prepare a patient-specific prescription. Depending on the prescription, ingredients may be combined into one preparation or customized in strength, dosage form, or excipients based on the patient's individual needs and tolerability.

No fleas, but your dog is still itching? 🐶

Persistent scratching, licking, or chewing can be caused by more than fleas. Seasonal or food allergies, dry skin, contact irritation, bacterial or yeast infections, ear infections, and other parasites may all contribute to your pet’s discomfort. For dogs with flea allergies, even a single bite may trigger a reaction.

If the itching continues or you notice redness, hair loss, odor, sores, or discharge, contact your veterinarian. Determining the underlying cause is essential to choosing the right treatment.

When medication is prescribed, Westmoreland Pharmacy + Compounding can work with your veterinarian to prepare a patient-specific formulation in a strength and dosage form suited to your pet’s needs, including options that may be easier to administer.
