TW: Assault, harassment & safety in the tattoo industry 💗
A reminder for ANYONE getting tattooed: sexual harassment and assault are never something you should have to accept as part of your experience. This client came to me after having an experience with another artist that crossed serious boundaries. She was left with unfinished tattoos, and I'm incredibly grateful she trusted me to finish what she started. My priority was making sure she felt safe, respected, and heard throughout the process. Most importantly, she left happy! We just have a few other designs on the back of her arm to shade, some marine-inspired filler to add, and then BAM - SLEEVE DONE 💗
I want to talk about something that matters deeply to me, both as a woman and as a tattoo artist.
Getting tattooed requires trust. You're putting yourself in a vulnerable position and trusting another person with your body, your comfort, and your boundaries.
That trust should never be taken advantage of. Being alone with an artist or needing to remove clothing for placement is never permission for unwanted touching, sexual comments, pressure, or harassment.
Your body is not an invitation. Your consent matters, always. I also want people to know that creating a safe, welcoming environment for women is something I PERSONALLY care about.
I want every client who sits in my chair to feel comfortable speaking up, setting boundaries, asking questions, and knowing that their comfort matters to me.
I can't speak to every person's experience or every situation, but I can speak to my own values and the care I put into my work and the people who trust me with their bodies.
You are allowed to say no. You are allowed to stop a session. You are allowed to leave. And you deserve an artist who respects that without question. Thank you to everyone who continues to support my work, trust me with your tattoos, and allow me to do what | love. Your support means more than you know. 💗
