A few days in to October sooooo let’s recap September! A few favorites of Teresa this month are GI maps, golf, skincare, and grain free treats!

-GI MAPS: really great testing for gut health that we utilize here at MAC Med. We love these tests because genuinely everything stems from your gut! You could have great hormone levels but if your gut is a wreck that won’t matter. A deep dive into what is going on could be the first step in getting your gut back in order! 💚

-Golf: a long time favorite hobby for Teresa! A great way to get in steps and be outside! ⛳️

-Skincare: There’s a lot out there for skincare tips and tricks but it really is worth finding a good routine that you like to keep your skin hydrated and healthy! Especially heading into the dryer months, make sure you have a good moisturizing routine. And maybe it’s time to schedule that microneedling appointment you’ve been thinking about…👀

-Grain free treats: this month it was pumpkin muffins! Teresa loved these fall treats. An alternative that helps her gut and that tastes great! Her go to brand was Simple Mills but there are so many treats out there for you grain or gluten free friends! 🎃

And song choice in honor of our own patient zero, Teresa. She loves what she does because she works from a place of empathy through her own medical struggles. This girl gets it and is willing to try anything before she prescribes it to y’all. She’s working from experience so you have someone who truly understands the patience and hardship it can be to navigate the health world today.

That’s all for now!

When we talk about stress on the body we are talking about so much more than what you first think of. The list could go on forever. Sometimes we don’t even realize there are stressors in our lives that are playing a role in how we feel each day. But pausing and taking inventory throughout your week to see what could be contributing to your health may bring some good insight for your next appointment. We can only do so much with the supplements and prescriptions. You have to put in the work when it comes to diet and lifestyle because unfortunately we aren’t there every day of the week to tell you what to do. And what is going in and around your body plays a large role in how your treatment works. If your body is stuck getting hit by a million different stressors then we have a long journey ahead of us. Obviously a life without stress isn’t realistic, and not all stress on the body is innately bad. But those hard hitters are ones we want to decrease and limit so that your body can actually utilize all the things we are trying to implement.

Where you go for your medical problems and treatment matters. In today’s world there are so many voices giving their input whether you asked for it or not.

What supplements to take, what kind of foods to eat, what brand household items to use, what type of workouts are best, what sleep schedule works, what to wear, what to drink, what to think about, the list goes on.

But just keep in mind, if the voice you’re listening to doesn’t have the credentials and education to back it up, then it may not be worth following. Understanding how things work in the body means you have to know how the body works at a baseline. There’s a ripple effect from our actions. So maybe the neighbor selling peptides out of their garage whose main career is real estate isn’t the best option….

All we’re saying is be careful who you listen to and seek out trusted sources! Those supplements from a random supplier online may not actually be what they say they are. So taking time to ask your provider who has the expertise to point you in the direction of well vetted resources really is worth it. At MAC Med, we have your health in mind and utilize safe practices for all our treatments so you can be sure our advice is based in up to date research and best practice guidelines. 🖤✨

Happy Monday! Today’s a great day to start some new habits! We picked 4 as examples that are really basic things that actually go a long way when it comes to your health and wellness.

-Walking! We’ve said it a million times. Walking (especially throughout your day in little bits and after meals) is incredible for your body. And we know it’s still one million degrees out in the heat of the day so even little laps in your office or home can do the trick!

-Weights! Adding weights to your walks or workouts greatly improves your muscle mass and ability to build that lean muscle we need especially as we age. Muscle really is that important!!!!!!

-Water! Hydration is so simple yet often ignored. Drink your water y’all. It impacts more than you think.

-Whole foods! Really trying to prioritize whole foods over processed items can really change the game in your nutrition. Try to stay on the outer parts of the grocery store as much as possible. Think one ingredient over the list of junk on the back of the box of cookies. But stay realistic, life is all about balance.

Baby steps towards these habits can really shift your week! ✨

AUGUST ROUND UP.

A few favorites of last month. Let’s get into it.

-WHOLE 30. We gotta give Teresa props for following through with this. It’s a great reset for your gut and can actually help figure out food sensitivities for some. This is a pretty strict and disciplined 30 days of really having to think through your meals and staying on top of nutrition. Not meant to be forever, but a great tool for lowering inflammation!

-Clinical grade red light therapy. Not all red light is the same! Teresa has been working with a clinical grade red light laser for inflammation and autoimmune support and loves it!

-Berries & mangos! A sweet treat during whole 30 that has actually prompted some interesting conversations about the diet culture we were all raised in. For so many people there is an odd lingering fear around consuming fruit because of the sugar component. During whole 30 sugar is actually restricted for the entirety of the program but fruit is allowed. We also have had a few conversations with patients recently about how fruit is good for you and a nice sweet treat alternative to the cakes and cookies. So don’t be scared of fruit!!!!!! It’s natures candy to us all!

-Vaginal estrogen has been a repeat prescription these days and for good reason! The vaginal tissue naturally loses elasticity over time leading to pain, dryness, and even urinary problems. Most women tend to think that’s just a part of getting older and you have to deal with it! But we are here to tell you, there’s actually a simple treatment!!!! Vaginal estrogen does not significantly raise estrogen levels systemically throughout your body making it a great addition for women in the perimenopause/menopausal state. It can help relieve a lot of the symptoms you may be experiencing and isn’t an expensive treatment at all! Ask about it at your next appointment and don’t suffer silently!

-BPC 157 is a peptide we’ve been using pretty often here at MAC Med. It’s really great for tissue repair and recovery and we have seen a lot of success with it!

That’s all for this month. See ya next time and remember this is for education purposes only, always talk to your doctor before doing or adding anything! ✨

JULY FAVORITE HEALTHY HABITS.

-Kombucha!!! This has been a newer development for Teresa. Kombucha isn’t for everyone but if you enjoy it it’s a really great addition to your diet for gut health and microbiome diversity! Fermented foods and drinks feed the good bacteria in your gut and can really help balance you out! Plus they are super yummy! 🍒

-Thymosin Alpha. A peptide that can be used in autoimmune disorders for immune system modulation. (Used with provider supervision and prescription) ✨

-AI. Listen, this stuff is used everywhere these days. Obviously there is a time and place for it but learning how to incorporate them (not rely on them) can actually be helpful! 💻

-Making the bed! Seems silly but this one task can actually set you up well for your day! Taking the extra two minutes to just simply make your bed in your daily routine can help you be more productive throughout your day. Really it just comes down to creating healthy habits and this is one that can be useful! ☀️

-Celebrating friends and family! This month has been full of travels and weddings and showers! Allowing for time with others that fill you up is such a great way to keep your life balanced. Don’t get too down in the trenches with work and life. Let there be space to enjoy and play! 🥳

August, let’s goooooooo!!!!
