Myra Glajchen (top image, third from the left), Director of Education and Training at the MJHS Institute, led an all-day training session for an engaged group of 75 social workers at Fordham University at Lincoln Center. The session was part of the Educating Social Workers in Palliative and End-of-Life Care (ESPEC) program, which was developed by our Institute, in collaboration with the National Association of Social Workers and the Social Work Hospice & Palliative Care Network. Participants walked away with best practices to integrate key palliative care principles into their clinical work and other important takeaways.

Congratulations Miriam C. and Masiel V., Managers of our NORC Programs, for being honored by the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Geriatric Psychiatry Outpatient clinic for Latinx Heritage Month!!! Isabella Center’s partnership with NYP allow Miriam and Masiel to help older adults in the community access the care and support they need. During the pandemic, many in the community became isolated, lonely, depressed and anxious. Our program helped fill the gap and older adults were able to receive much needed mental health services. Fortunately, in-person support groups resumed a while ago and we’re even seeking volunteers. We’re proud of you Miriam and Masiel!
With all our hearts, we’d like to say a big THANK YOU to our supporters for showing your love this . Thanks to you, we were able to raise $36,993 which will allow us to provide necessary care to our patients and families. Your generosity truly makes a difference!

This effort is led by our Cultural Diversity team, including the Veteran Liaison, as yet another way we recognize Veterans’ service to our country. In some cases, proclamations are presented at in person recognition ceremonies, which enable Veterans to reflect on their life and service, as well as for loved ones to come together to express gratitude.
