Rain or shine, they showed up. This is what Blind and Thriving looks like.

Last weekend, Roosevelt, Rob, and Shawntina — three blind veterans who have given so much to our country — ran the Army Ten-Miler with Team Lighthouse Guild, alongside our CEO Thomas Panek, his guide dog Shadow, and members of our staff.

Through the downpour and the remnants of Hurricane Isaias, they ran with pride, purpose, and the support of a cheering crowd. Thanks to our partnership with Meta which is working to put free Meta AI glasses in the hands of blind veterans, they also had a little extra help describing the way, because independence and freedom should be on their own terms.

To every veteran who has served: thank you. We are proud to run alongside you.

If you're a blind veteran and want to learn more about receiving a pair of free Meta AI glasses through this program, email [email protected].

This weekend, we ran the Army Ten-Miler in what was left of Hurricane Isaias. The rain came down on Washington, D.C. for the entire race, but what we’ll remember most is who we ran beside.

Our team was led by three blind veterans, Shawntina, Rob, and Roosevelt, who have already given so much in service to our country. Alongside them were our CEO, Thomas Panek, Kelly Ingham of Meta, and Lighthouse Guild colleague Jeremy, and King Randall, I. and Haven Brady Jr. We also had support from Achilles International guides.

Every blind runner wore a pair of Meta AI glasses. And for ten rainy miles, they described the way. The Washington Monument appeared through the clouds. The course turned around the Capitol and doubled back toward the Pentagon. At the finish, the glasses described the line and the sound of the crowd of umbrellas cheering us in.

It was a reminder of what independence looks like: moving through the world on your own terms, with the information you need to do it. Our veterans earned that freedom many times over, and we’re grateful to Meta for partnering with us to help bring it within reach for more of them.

To Roosevelt, Rob, Shawntina, thank you for showing us what it means to be Blind and Thriving, rain and all.

Stay tuned for a busy weekend on the Lighthouse Guild channels!

This weekend, Lighthouse Guild is bringing a team of runners to Washington, D.C. for the Army Ten-Miler — a race that brings together over 35,000 runners including active-duty military, veterans, civilians, and wounded warriors.

The Lighthouse Guild team includes members of the Lighthouse Guild community and three blind veterans — Shawntina Gibson, Rob Sanchas, and Roosevelt Morring.

Every step this weekend represents our commitment to making technology accessible to everyone facing vision loss, and to our partnership with Meta to bring free Meta AI glasses to every blind veteran in the country.

Join us in wishing the team good luck. And stay tuned!

Talk about a stacked lineup.

Seven members of the Lighthouse Guild community are trading New York for Tuscany as they represent Team USA with U.S. Blind Baseball Association - USBBA at the 2026 WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup!

We're cheering on Ed Plumacher, Kiana Glanton, Zach Ship, Janice Clarke, Teddy Hackett, Amanda Makson, and Edery Herrera as they head to Italy to compete.

Whether you have vision loss or not, sport, movement, and community are not extras — they are essential to well-being. At Lighthouse Guild, we are committed to expanding access to adaptive athletics experiences for people who are blind or have low vision.

Stay tuned for more — we're sending all the good vibes, lucky charms, and rally caps we can spare.

Let's hear it for Team USA in the comments! 👏
