Being able to turn and to change direction, or being able to turn the head when driving, our ability to turn and rotate matters greatly.
With PD, stooped posture can limit their rotation of our neck, but especially our thoracic rotation and the higher middle back area between his shoulders.
This stiffness can prevent us from twisting or turning, even making it harder to turn in bed or to get out of bed, or to get in and out of a car, or in and out of a chair and also in our personal care, it can make life much more difficult.
In addition, the ability to turn freely can affect our daily function as with limited ability to turn or twist, it increases our risk of falling.
Many think it is only about twisting or turning in the neck or in the lower back area, but even the middle, upper back must be able to rotate so we can freely move our arms, our shoulders and our head.
Should scoliosis be present, this makes it more difficult, but the good news is, with a daily exercise program the goal is really to maintain what is available for you and to sustain what you have.
