NYC Marathon Ferry Experience 2025 ⛴️🏃🏾‍♀️| ASMR

Come take the Staten Island Ferry with me on NYC Marathon race morning😀

I took the 8:45 AM ferry. I was in Wave 5, and had an 11:30 AM start time.

See my entire journey from the crowded ferry terminal in Manhattan to boarding the ferry, arriving on Staten Island, catching the shuttle bus, going through security, and finally making it to the starting village.

I’ve included timestamps throughout the video so you can see exactly how long each part of my journey took.

If you have any questions, drop it in the comments below 👇🏾and Follow for part 2, where I’ll show you what it’s like inside the NYC Marathon starting village.

Mother Nature, PLEASE STOP IT! 😩

Why are we running in almost 80 degree weather with 70% humidity in the middle of October?! 🤯

I survived an entire summer of marathon training. I don’t need to be tested anymore🙅🏾‍♀️

Please give us the cool, crisp fall weather we are owed. Is that too much to ask?

Runners, please tell me I’m not the only one who’s over this unseasonably warm weather😩

Calling all my slower runners, back-of-the-pack runners, and Wave 4 & 5 NYC Marathon runners! 🏃🏾‍♀️

If you’re planning to put in a full workday on that course, consider practicing running in the dark especially if you’re not used to it.

As someone who enjoys running in the evening and night, I am fine with it but I know it’s not for everybody.
So try getting some of those training runs in, so that you’re not surprised on race day.

When you see this smile, just know that nothing and no one is gonna throw this girl off her marathon training game 💪🏾🔥

Would you believe me if I told you that I spent the first four miles of my long run chasing down my running group (again)🫣? Did I catch them? Oh you know it!
Would you also believe that I got tripped and fell close to the end of my run and still managed to have an amazing run?! 👀Better Believe it!

I got to my run late and had to play catch up running at tempo pace💨Woosah!
Once I caught up to them and settled into long run pace, it was an absolute blast! We did the usual- chatting, dancing, strategizing, discussing race fit and shoe options and enjoying every bit of this down week.

Speaking of down, your girl accidentally got tripped and WENT DOWN😩 One of the craziest things about falling as an adult is your inability to stop. Everything is going in slow motion😭
Thankfully my phone and long leggings saved me. Apart from a bruised thumb, I am A-okay👍🏾

I got right back up, dusted myself off, and finished what turned out to be another great long run🤗
One of the things I love most about my marathon training journey is that every single run, and I mean Every. Single. One, teaches me something about myself. Without fail.

This week’s lesson? I’m Strong, Resilient and Determined AF! No matter the challenges or, stumbles, Sassy aint’ quitting or giving up👊🏾

14 mile long run done ✅ & dusted ✌🏾

Jersey City 5k Finisher! 🎉
When you put in the work, the results will happen.

It’s not every day you can knock out 20 miles on a Saturday and then your fastest 5K in years, the very next day without even racing it.
This was definitely not the plan.
When I signed up for this race, it was happening on what was supposed to be my down week. I was scheduled to run an easy 14 miles on Saturday and then I could erase this 5K on Sunday. But the nor’easter last weekend caused group training run cancellations throughout NY and NJ. This shifted our marathon training schedule. Everything got flipped around and my 20 miler landed the day before the race.
I was a little bummed because I knew I couldn’t fall out race this weekend. I mean… I could, but didn’t want to risk an injury four weeks out from the marathon.
I was also excited to run this event with my friend Jo Joedy ✨ , who was planning on racing it (spoiler alert 🚨 she met her goal👏🏾).
The temperature and weather conditions were almost perfect for me too; 50+ degrees, cloudy with a nice breeze (I despise running in the sun).
My plan? Don’t race it. Run and see how my legs feel. Well baby, the legs were feeling fantastic and ended up moving a lot quicker than planned😱
although I definitely had to slow myself down in a few spots because if you’ve ever run Jersey City, you already know about those roads😬 Potholes , uneven pavement, train tracks… like Jersey City, we gotta get dem roads together!
I didn’t look at my watch once but did spend a good amount of time looking down because I was not trying to become the latest victim of the run-and-fall epidemic that’s been happening during Nyc marathon training lately😩 We’ll talk about that another day.
But even on tired legs, your girl ran her fastest 5K in years!😱
Feels so good to see that stacking all these miles; long runs, bridges, hills, speed, workouts, and tired leg runs, I do exactly what they’re supposed to do.
Now I’m really curious to see what these legs can do on fresh legs once marathon training is over🤔
5k race done ✅ & dusted ✌🏾

That 20-mile long run smile 😁

Wow! What a fun and fantastic run. Not something you hear often when talking about running 20 long miles around NYC😝

We had two bridges, lots of hills, including what felt like a never-ending climb outside of Prospect Park in Brooklyn…Woosah! But somehow the miles still just flew by.

We talked. We laughed. We vibed. One of us may have accidentally swallowed a bug🤢First we were concerned, then we couldn’t stop laughing 😆 Sorry Kim girlie😩
We got cheered on by several groups of New Yorkers, which gave us an extra boost. It actually felt like a little preview of race day🥹
And that cool weather definitely helped. Please let these temps be here to stay! 🙌🏾

I really can’t say enough good things about this run. Cheers to many more long runs that feel just like this.

20 miles done and dusted. ✅

4 things to never doubt about me:

1. My consistency
2. My endurance
3. My discipline
4. My strength - not just my physical 💪🏾but my mental 🧠

Because lacing up and logging 14 miles during a
nor’easter was NOT for the weak!! 🗣️
I had every reason to stay home but didn’t. Our 20 mile group long run got canceled, which was a huge bummer but I still had to get the miles in…safely. Cause Mama ain’t raise no fool 😂

Once the wind advisory was lifted, I got dressed and hit that pavement in the rain 🌧️
Did I want to run a bunch of loops 🔁 in the park on a lonely Sunday evening? Not really 🤪

But marathon training isn’t just about showing up when the weather is perfect, the group is there and you’re feeling motivated.
You gotta show up in imperfect conditions.

Not only did your girl get it done but I had fun. Me and my Spotify playlist were locked in🔒 Running, singing and dancing in the rain, in the dark. I really love my own company 😛

Every run on my marathon training journey teaches me something: I am Strong 💪🏾 and cannot be beat!👊🏾

14 miles done ✅ and dusted ✌🏾

Did you brave the weather and run outside this weekend or take it to the treadmill?

Training for the NYC Marathon? Run dem hills and bridges🗣️

Take it from someone who’s run this marathon 9x.

I’m always surprised when runners come to New York to run the marathon and then say they weren’t prepared for how hilly it is👀
Like… did y’all not look at the course? Did you not believe your friends who’ve run it before?😆

It is, in fact, hilly from the start!

We’re 5 weeks out and got some 18-22 milers ahead of us, so get that elevation in now.
Run the hills. Run the bridges. Practice climbing on tired legs. Your race day legs will thank you 😊 or hate you 🤪

“Where there’s a woman, there’s a way.”💪🏾
18 miles to close out the last weekend of summer!😃

But it wasn’t without a little drama 👀🤪

I was late ⏰ for this run. When I say late, I mean late, late 🫣 By the time I got to our starting point, everyone was gone! 🫠

I knew I was gonna have to book it 💨 to play catch-up, but I didn’t know it would take me a whole 7 miles, including running up that wretched Williamsburg Bridge 😬 (You’re gonna have to see the video recap).

I was running up and down Brooklyn trying to find my running group because I did not want to run 18 miles by myself 🙅🏾‍♀️

To make matters worse, I am directionally challenged. Like, you show me a map 🗺️ and I’m still gonna get lost 🫣

But where there’s a will, there’s a way, and somehow your girl made a way to find her running group somewhere on the lonely back streets of Brooklyn, on a road I turned on because “I felt like it” 🤷🏾‍♀️ And like a mirage, one of the running groups appeared in front of me😃
I have never been happier to see white shirts with the letters ‘PACER’ on them 🙌🏾

It was a much faster pace group, but I didn’t care. They got me to our next water stop, where I met up with my pacing group a few minutes later 🤗

From there, it was smooth sailing ⛵️ Our pacers brought the steady pacing, good vibes and music bangers 🎶
Once we got back to Battery Park, I ran 2 miles solo along the West Side Highway to complete the full 18 miles.
It was a very very eventful long run 🏃🏾‍♀️

18 miles done ✅ & dusted ✌🏾

That moment when you crushed another marathon training workout💪🏾😀

It’s been 3 weeks since our last track session at Icahn stadium 🏟️ where we ran 20 x 200m. It was fast and spicy 🌶️
This time we had to do a longer, more controlled workout. 4 x 1 mile repeats, alternating between marathon and half-marathon pace.

If you’ve been following me for a while you know my struggles with pacing when I’m on my own🫣I’ve done this workout solo and almost always end up going way too fast🤪
So I needed this workout, this pacing team and the shared energy of this running squad.
I didn’t want to look at my watch or focus on the time. I wanted to focus on the effort. This is what I need to hold for 26.2 miles.
And boy did it feel fun! I was able to sing, have a conversation and run dance during each rep. I loved it! I mean the DJ was straight 🔥🔥
This is exactly how I want to feel during the NYC Marathon in a few weeks. Controlled, comfortable and having fun🤗
This was a good one👍🏾
Now onto to our 18 miler 🏃🏾‍♀️
