You can be grounded and still be going through some s**t.

I think sometimes we confuse being grounded with being completely calm, peaceful and unaffected by whatever is happening around us.

That’s not real life!

For me, grounding isn’t about pretending everything is okay.

It’s about being able to say, “This is what I’m feeling and this is where I am.”

That’s the work!

In energy work, the root chakra is associated with our sense of safety, stability, belonging and feeling supported.

It's considered our foundation.

Just like it's harder to build anything on an unsteady foundation, it can be harder to BE present when everything in life feels unstable.

That's why grounding practices are often connected to root chakra work.

The goal isn't to wave a magic wand to all the problems that you have going on in your life.

It's to help you reconnect with yourself while life is still life-ing.

So how do you actually ground yourself?

Start simple.

Put both of your feet on the floor and notice what the floor feels like below your feet. Take a few slow, deep breaths and let your exhale be a little longer and your inhale. Step outside and spend a few minutes noticing what you can see, hear and feel around you.
Move your body by doing something like taking a walk, stretching or simply shaking the tension you've been carrying.
Give yourself permission to sit and do NOTHING, even if just for 5 minutes.

You don't need to do all of them.
Choose one and just do it.

That’s exactly why we created Unplugged: A Teen Prom Experience.

It’s an opportunity to get dressed up, feel confident, meet teens outside their usual circle and enjoy a beautiful night designed for real connection, laughter, fun and new experiences.

Not every teen gets a traditional prom.

But every teen deserves the chance to have the experience!!!

Come with friends.
Come solo.
Come ready to meet someone new.

Our community is showing up for our teens!!!

A huge thank you to The UPS Store in Highland Mills for sponsoring teens to attend UNPLUGGED: A Teen Prom Experience.

This is exactly what I hoped would happen when I created this event.

Local businesses, parents and community members coming together to give teens a night to get dressed up, have fun, meet new people and make memories outside of their everyday routines.

And we’re not done yet!!!

LOCAL BUSINESSES: We’re still welcoming sponsors who would like to help send teens to Prom. Whether you sponsor 2 teens, 5 teens or 10, you’re helping make this experience possible for more young people in our community.

PARENTS: If you’ve been thinking about it, this is your sign. Your teen does not need a date. They don’t need to attend a particular school. They just need to come ready for a good night.

Who smiles and says she’s good.
Who carries more than she talks about.
Who has gotten really good at pushing through.
Who takes care of everyone else while quietly wondering when it gets to be her turn.

You don’t have to wait until you’re falling apart to need somewhere to exhale.
You definitely don’t have to explain everything before you come to SHH.
