While not an orthopedic injury, heat-related injuries are very common during the summer. Heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are important to look out for.
According to a CDC report, more than 300 out of every 100,000 emergency department visits in July and August 2023 were for heat-related illnesses.
To help prevent heat-related injuries, it is important to stay hydrated. Avoiding outdoor activities on extremely hot and humid days is crucial. Always use sun protection and plan your outdoor activities for the cooler parts of the day.

Rotator cuff injuries are most common for players playing at a high intensity and for more extended periods of time. Poor form can also lead to rotator cuff injuries. Your rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons attached to the shoulder blade that is responsible for keeping your arm in the shoulder socket. Injuries to the rotator cuff happen when the muscles or tendons are strained or torn. This will cause pain and limited range of motion in the shoulder. During Pickleball or Tennis, this can happen from the repetitive swiping at the ball. If you are experiencing pain, weakness, limited range of motion, or a stiff shoulder, call us today at (212) 203-3324 to schedule an appointment.

I had right hip surgery on May 2, 2019, performed by Dr. Roy Davidovich. My whole family and friends were surprised at how quickly I recovered. I really think that I owed this to Dr. Davidovich's excellent skills that I didn't suffer during that time. Now, almost 5 years later, I have forgotten that I had it because everything feels like part of me. My range of motion is perfect. I even started to do Pilates and some yoga. At the age of 76, I'm very mobile thanks to this wonderful doctor. I'm grateful forever.

One of the most common misconceptions about cortisone injections is that work immediately. However, there is no fixed amount of time in which the injections will work. The corticosteroid medication is mixed with a numbing agent (often Lidocaine), so you may notice results immediately, but this will likely only last several hours. We tell patients to expect results within 3-5 days of the injection.
Cortisone injections can significantly relieve symptoms with appropriate use recommended by your doctor. If you have questions regarding cortisone injections, cortisone injection side effects, or you are interested in cortisone injections for your symptoms or want to know more, contact us to schedule an appointment.

Shoulder injuries are a common injury we see during the summer months. Swimming, tennis, pickleball, and other summer sports can put a strain on the shoulders, leading to injuries such as rotator cuff tears, tendonitis, and dislocations. To help prevent shoulder injuries, it’s essential to maintain good posture, strengthen the muscles surrounding the shoulder joint, and avoid overexerting yourself during physical activities. #shoulderinjuries #orthopedicsurgeons #pickleballinjury

For example, bursitis of the shoulder can be cured with an injection, as it reduces the inflammation of the bursa. Corticosteroid injections for knee osteoarthritis are used to help manage pain.

There is no single, definitive test for carpal tunnel syndrome. Your physician will make a diagnosis based primarily on your symptoms and a physical examination. Pushing or tapping on specific sites or flexing and extending the wrist will often elicit pain and tingling if the condition is present. Electrical nerve tests and X-rays may also be used to confirm the diagnosis or to rule out other possible issues. If you’ve been living with wrist pain or have any questions about carpal tunnel syndrome, please reach out to us.
