N-acetylcysteine—better known as NAC—supplies cysteine, an amino-acid building block the body uses to make glutathione, an important part of its antioxidant network.
NAC also has a long history of conventional medical use as a mucolytic medicine. In a six-month randomized, double-blind trial involving 262 mostly older adults, 600 mg twice daily did not prevent influenza infection, but it was associated with fewer and less severe influenza-like illnesses. That study offers a useful signal—not a promise that an over-the-counter supplement will prevent or treat influenza.
An evidence-informed NAC plan connects:
Purpose: What specific wellness goal are you addressing?
Product: What amount, serving size, quality standard, and timing fit the plan?
Follow-up: Is there a measurable response, good tolerance, and appropriate care-team input?
NAC supplements may cause digestive upset and are not a substitute for vaccination, prescribed treatment, or medical evaluation. Ask a pharmacist or prescriber before use if you take prescription medicines, have asthma or another significant condition, are pregnant, or are preparing for surgery.
Vassalage Wellness Shop helps connect the evidence to the product label and your complete wellness plan—so consultation adds clarity rather than merely adding another bottle.
