A Medicare Review Does Not Always Require a Meeting

Reviewing your Medicare coverage should be thorough, but it does not need to be complicated.

In many cases, NPF Benefits can review your information, explain any meaningful changes, and help you determine your next step without an in-person meeting.

If your current plan still meets your needs, we'll tell you.

If something deserves a closer look, we'll help you understand why.

The goal is simple: understand what's changed, determine what matters to you, and make a confident decision.

No need to panic. We’re here to help.

Medicare Annual Enrollment is now open and continues through December 7th.

Some years, a plan change is necessary. Other years, your current plan may continue to meet your needs. The key is understanding what’s changing and how it affects you.

Start by reviewing your prescriptions, preferred providers, coverage and costs.

If your plan is ending or changes affect your needs, we can help you review your options for the coming year.

You do not have to figure it all out on your own. NPF Benefits is here to help you understand the changes and make a confident decision.

Get Ready for Your Medicare Review

Medicare Annual Enrollment begins October 15th. A little preparation now can make your review much easier.

Gather your:

• Medicare card
• Annual Notice of Change
• Current medication list
• Preferred pharmacy
• Doctors and specialists
• Questions about your existing coverage

Once you have these items together, you'll be better prepared to review whether your current plan still meets your needs or whether another option deserves consideration.

Being prepared makes it easier to make a confident decision.

Before comparing Medicare plans for the coming year, begin by looking at the coverage you already have.

Ask yourself:

Are my prescriptions still covered?
Are my doctors and preferred doctors and hospitals. still in-network?
Have my healthcare needs changed?
Am I satisfied with how my current plan works?

A good Medicare review starts with your needs, not with an advertisement or a plan promotion.

Annual Enrollment gives you an opportunity to review your Medicare coverage. It does not mean you have to make a change.

If your current plan continues to cover your prescriptions, includes your preferred providers, and meets your healthcare and budget needs, staying with it may be the right decision.

At NPF Benefits, our goal isn't to make a change simply for the sake of change. It's to help you understand your options and feel confident in your decision.

Your prescriptions can change during the year and Medicare plan drug coverage can change from one year to the next.

Before Annual Enrollment begins, make a current list that includes:

The name of each medication
Dosage and frequency
Your preferred pharmacy
Any recent prescription changes

Having an accurate medication list will make your annual Medicare review easier and more useful.

Do Not Throw Away Your ANOC

Your Annual Notice of Change may look like just another piece of insurance mail, but it contains information you should review before Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period.

Look for changes involving:

Monthly premiums and other costs
Prescription coverage
Copays and benefits
Doctors, hospitals and pharmacies
Your plan’s service area

Receiving an ANOC does not automatically mean you need a new plan. It simply gives you the information needed to determine whether your current coverage will continue to meet your needs.

Your Annual Notice of Change Is Coming

If you have a Medicare Advantage or prescription drug plan, watch your mail for an Annual Notice of Change, also called an ANOC.

This document explains changes to your plan for the coming year, including coverage, costs, prescription drug coverage, provider networks and other important details.

When it arrives, keep it somewhere safe. You do not need to make an immediate decision, but you'll want to have it available when it's time to review your coverage.

For now, simply keep it with your other Medicare information.

One of the questions we hear most often is:

"Do I have to change my Medicare plan every year?"

The answer is:

Not necessarily.

If your doctors, prescriptions, healthcare needs, and current coverage are still meeting your needs, you may not need to make any changes.

Annual Enrollment isn't about switching plans.

It's about taking a few minutes to review your coverage and making sure it's still the right fit for the year ahead.

Sometimes the best decision is keeping the plan you already have.

The important thing is understanding your options so you can make an informed decision with confidence.

At NPF Benefits, our goal is to provide clear, unbiased guidance so you can choose what's best for you, whether that's making a change or staying right where you are.

Beginning later this summer and into early fall, many Medicare beneficiaries will receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from their health or prescription drug plan.

This document outlines any changes that may take effect next year, such as:

• Costs
• Prescription drug coverage
• Provider networks
• Benefits

Don't throw it away.

Even if you don't read it right away, keep it with your Medicare paperwork so it's available when you need it.

We'll explain more about the ANOC in the coming weeks.
