CharterCARE Health of Rhode Island is pleased to welcome Dr. Guy R. Nicastri, FACS, as our new Chief Quality Officer.

With more than 35 years of clinical and leadership experience, Dr. Nicastri will work with teams at Roger Williams Medical Center and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital to advance quality, performance improvement, patient safety and continuous improvement across our health system.

Dr. Nicastri is also an Associate Professor of Surgery and Family Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Our Lady of Fatima Hospital is expanding cardiovascular services through a new partnership with Ocean State Cardiovascular and Vein Center, a respected provider of cardiac and vascular care for more than 10 years.

The expanded cardiovascular team includes Dr. Gisele Saliba, Chief of Cardiology at Fatima Hospital, Dr. Walid Saber, FACC, and Dr. Ibrahim Elgabry of Ocean State Cardiovascular and Vein Center. Together, they will provide expanded cardiac and vascular care, including 24/7 cardiac coverage for Emergency Department patients.

As part of this expansion, Fatima Hospital now offers a new weekday cardiac clinic, providing convenient access to cardiac and vascular care close to home. The team will also support patients with vascular needs through Fatima’s Wound Center.

CharterCARE Health of Rhode Island is delighted to announce the creation of a new thoracic surgery program, led by a national leader in this field.

As Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Thoracic Diseases, Dr. McNamee will lead thoracic care at Roger Williams Medical Center and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.

Dr. McNamee is now accepting new patients at 50 Maude Street in Providence.

Lorrie Miller, an Occupational Therapist at the Southern New England Rehabilitation Center at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, recently prepared a spicy beef pasta dish with a patient as part of his rehabilitation before a successful return home.

Lorrie has been part of CharterCARE Health for more than 10 years and recently transitioned from home care to the inpatient rehabilitation service. Her experience and dedication continue to support meaningful progress and positive outcomes for our patients.

Our Lady of Fatima Hospital celebrated its 100th Inspire procedure today, performed by ENT specialists Dr. John Tarro and Dr. Zachary Quay De La Vallee.

Fatima Hospital was one of the first hospitals in Rhode Island, and the only hospital in the Providence metropolitan area, to begin offering Inspire treatment last year.

Inspire offers an innovative treatment option for people with obstructive sleep apnea who cannot tolerate Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy, working with the body's natural breathing process to help keep the airway open during sleep.
