One of the best compliments I've received over the years is when one of my long-time yoga students said," I always learn something when I take your class."

That's always my hope - that we come away learning something; be it about movement, anatomy, yoga philosophy, and best of all about ourselves. Our yoga practice should be about learning, exploring and discovering!

Class tonight - can't wait to share it with you. Tonight we look beyond pigeon pose to help us mobilize and strengthen our outer hips. It's going to be juicy and maybe a little spicey as we challenge our hips and our balance. Link is on pix (thanks fb) to join us - see you soon!

Here are a few fun ways to spice up your practice and challenge your your outer hips and your sense of stability.

Utkatasana

šŸŒ¶ļø Place a theraband around your ankles and move one leg "around the clock"Ā  Both legs getĀ to work - one moving, one stabilizing.

Bridge

šŸ˜Ā Place a yoga strapĀ around your thighs.Ā  Press out into the strap as you lift and as you lower.Ā

šŸ”„ High Lunge

Wear a sock or put a sock or blanket under your foot - slide that foot back as you bend your front knee.Ā  Use the front leg to bring the back leg in to Tadasana

Our yoga practice is important, for sure. But I don't believe it has to be so serious all the time. A little laughter lightens us up and gets us breathing and out of our heads and into our bodies and our hearts. How can you weave laughter, playfulness, and curiosity into your practice and teaching today?

Happy Wednesday! If you find yourself sitting in chairs a lot of the day, you might notice whether or not you feel stiff when you get up. Do you find that sitting on the ground is not as easy as it used to be? This can happen when we limit our movement palette.

So this month, we're taking a tour of the hips: mobilizing, strengthening, stretching them in all the ways they move. And we'll take time to notice how this exploration impacts the way we walk, sit and generally feel. www.thisisyourbliss.com - join us!

Hips feel tight? Maybe they don't simply need to be stretched! They might need a little strengthening.

If you've got tight hips, then this is the month for you. October is HIP exploration month at Yoga Bliss.

This week we focus on the muscles on the back of the hip - your glutes and hamstrings primarily. We'll explore ways to activate them, challenge them to work a little harder and then end with a little stretch. I promise it will feel great. www.thisisyourbliss.com to join us - see you soon!
