Good morning! ☀️ Today's balance tip: side steps at the kitchen counter.

Strong side-to-side steps help you catch yourself if you start to lose your balance. Try this:

1. Stand facing your kitchen counter, both hands resting lightly on it.
2. Step slowly to one side, then bring your other foot to meet it.
3. Take 4–5 steps one way, then 4–5 steps back.

Hold a sturdy counter or chair the whole time, go slowly, and stop if you feel unsteady or in pain. Follow your therapist's instructions.

Small steps, steady balance! 💛

🌙 Rest is part of the plan, too.

On a recovery journey, rest days can feel like lost days — especially when you were moving well yesterday. But rest is not giving up, and it is not going backwards. It is when tired muscles recover, sore knees settle, and your body gets ready for the next steady step.

So tonight, instead of counting what you didn't do, try counting what you did: a short walk, a careful sit-to-stand, a steadier turn in the kitchen. Small, steady efforts add up — even on the quiet days.

And if today was a slow day, be kind to yourself about it. Progress is built over weeks, not in a single perfect day.

What's one small thing you're proud of today — even if it feels tiny? Tell us below. It might be exactly what someone else needs to hear tonight. 💙

The Kettle-Boil Balance Club 🫖

Your kettle is the most punctual personal trainer you will ever have. It never cancels, never runs late — and it whistles when your workout is over.

Next time it boils, try this: hold the kitchen counter, and do a few gentle heel raises or march softly in place while you wait. That is it — about two minutes of balance practice, disguised as making tea.

Just stay in a comfortable range, keep a hand on something sturdy, and stop if anything hurts. Your tea will taste like a small victory.

Are you a kettle, coffee-pot, or microwave person? Tell us below.

Good morning! ☀️ Today's fall-prevention tip: when you need to turn around, don't twist on one foot — take small steps instead.

Twisting to turn is a common cause of stumbles, especially in the kitchen or bathroom. Try this:
1. Stop walking first — don't turn while you're still moving.
2. Hold a sturdy chair, counter, or wall for support.
3. Take several small steps to turn your whole body around, like shuffling in a little circle.

Keep your steps small and slow, and keep a hand on your support the whole time. Stop if you feel unsteady or if anything hurts, and follow your therapist's instructions.

Next time you turn, will you try the small-steps way? Tell us below! 👇

🌙 Sunday-evening thought: your recovery has its own timeline.

It's easy to compare — a friend walked farther, a neighbour bent further, someone else seemed back to normal in weeks. But every knee, every surgery, and every body heals differently, and a comparison can steal the credit for your own progress.

Instead, look back at your own week. Maybe you stood a little steadier, walked a little further to the kitchen, or needed one less rest on the way to the mailbox. That counts — even if no one else would notice it.

Progress isn't always bigger numbers. Sometimes it's simply doing an everyday thing with a little more ease and a little more confidence.

Tell us below: what's one thing you can do now that you couldn't a month ago? Your answer might encourage someone who needs it tonight. 💙

The Commercial-Break Workout 📺

Your TV has been secretly scheduling your exercise all along. Every commercial break is a tiny coach saying, "Up you get — just for two minutes."

Try it during the next break: from a sturdy chair, march your feet gently in place, then point and flex your ankles a few times. If you feel steady, stand up using the chair arms, sit back down slowly, and repeat once. That is it. No gym, no special clothes, no leaving the living room.

The best part? The show always tells you when to start and stop. Just stay in a comfortable range, hold something sturdy if you need it, and stop if anything hurts.

Which show gives you the most commercial-break workouts? Tell us below.

Good afternoon ! Today's balance tip: the folded-towel stand. 🧘

Most of our walking happens on hard, flat floors. Training on a slightly soft surface — like a folded bath towel — teaches your ankles and feet to react a little faster. That steadiness is exactly what catches you when you step onto uneven ground outside.

Here's how:
1. Fold a bath towel and lay it flat on the floor beside your kitchen counter.
2. Hold the counter with both hands and step onto the towel with both feet.
3. Stand tall, shoulders back, and hold for 20 seconds. Breathe!
4. Rest, then repeat 2–3 times.

Go slowly. If you feel wobbly, just step off — that's what the counter is for. Stop if you feel dizzy or in pain, and always follow your therapist's guidance.

Balance you build at home becomes steadiness out in the world. 💪

🦵 Is it normal for your knee to hurt MORE after Physical Therapy?

The answer is… sometimes, YES! But not all pain is normal.

✅ Mild muscle soreness after starting new exercises or increasing activity can be expected.

⚠️ But increasing joint pain, significant swelling, sharp pain, or pain that continues to worsen should NOT be ignored.

💜 Remember: Rehabilitation is about gradually building strength and mobility—not pushing through pain at any cost.

If your knee is consistently more painful after therapy, communicate with your physical therapist. Your exercises, intensity, or repetitions may need to be adjusted.

More pain doesn't always mean more progress!

Your new knee has a soundtrack. 🎶

A little pop on the stairs. A click when you stand. A creak that sounds suspiciously like a door hinge. After a knee replacement, this kind of joint chatter is very common — it's often just the new surfaces gliding past each other, and it's usually harmless when there's no pain along with it.

Here's the simple rule: noise WITHOUT pain is usually just noise. Noise WITH pain, or new swelling, is worth a call to your doctor.

So, friends — what does yours sound like: snap, crackle, or pop?

🦵 Heel slides: your gentle path to better bending after knee replacement

One of the simplest ways to regain knee bend is also one of the most effective — heel slides, done lying down:

1️⃣ Lie on your back on a firm bed or couch, leg starting straight.
2️⃣ Slowly slide your heel toward you, letting your knee bend — stop at a gentle stretch feeling, never pain.
3️⃣ Hold a few seconds, then slowly slide the heel back out until your leg is straight again.
4️⃣ Repeat 10 times, rest, and try another set if it feels okay.

💡 You can also do these seated: slide your foot back under the chair and hold.

⚠️ Safety first: move slowly, breathe normally, and stop right away if you feel sharp pain, new swelling, or your knee gives way. Follow your surgeon/therapist's instructions for your stage of recovery — bending improves a little each day, never force it.

Small slides today, bigger bend tomorrow. You've got this! 💙
