You may not have a posture problem. You may have a proprioception problem.
You can tell yourself to "sit up straight" all day long, but if your body is used to a certain position, maintaining a different position can feel unnatural.
That is where proprioception comes in.
Proprioception is your body's ability to sense where it is in space without having to look. Your muscles, joints, tendons, and other sensory receptors constantly send information to your brain about movement and position.
Your brain uses that information to help coordinate how you sit, stand, walk, and move.
When neck pain, injury, restricted movement, or other factors affect that sensory information, your postural control can change.
That is why simply being told to "fix your posture" does not always solve the problem.
Good posture is not just something you hold. It is something your nervous system helps you control.
