Nobody tells you what coming back looks like, which means that when it starts, most women miss it entirely.

They are waiting for energy. For the return of some remembered version of themselves. For a morning when they wake up and it is obvious.

That is not how it arrives. It arrives in details so small they only register afterward, if at all. Twenty minutes of lying awake becomes eight. Something goes wrong and you’re annoyed instead of flattened. You want something small and unnecessary, and you didn’t decide to want it.

None of that will feel like enough while it’s happening. Every one of them is the system reporting in.

This week’s article on The Midlife Renaissance closes the month with the honest version of the timeline, and the quiet signs worth counting.

Does your energy follow a pattern you’d recognize anywhere? The slump that arrives every afternoon. The 3am wake-up. The evenings when you’re exhausted but can’t settle.

These aren’t random, and they aren’t a personal failing. They’re your body’s way of telling you what it needs.

Join me on Tuesday for a free live session, What Your Body Is Telling You About Your Energy. We’ll talk about what these signals may be saying and why so many women start noticing them in midlife.

Big hair, don’t care. There’s a version of me I don’t show much here.

She knows exactly who she is. She doesn’t wait for a yes. She walks into a room feeling herself, and she isn’t sorry about it.

I’m always aware of her. But I keep her a little quiet.

But somewhere in midlife, the need for approval starts to loosen its grip. What’s left is a woman who knows her own mind, her own power, and exactly how she wants to use it.

That kind of confidence isn’t vanity. It’s wisdom.

That’s who I built Whole Wise Woman for. A place where you don’t have to shrink, explain, or wait for anyone’s blessing to feel at home in your own skin.

Come as you are. All of you. Join free at:

She’s been with me longer than I can count. Through every move, every house, every version of myself, this Rodin sketch has hung on the wall closest to where I spend my days.

Her name is Danseuse Cambodgienne de Face. In 1906, Rodin was 66 and already a world famous sculptor when he saw the Royal Ballet of Cambodia perform in Paris. He was so moved that he dropped everything and followed the dancers to Marseille, without even bringing paper.

When I first brought her home, she felt like a younger version of me. Now she’s the woman I keep growing toward: grounded, in motion, and completely at home in her body.

I wrote about her history, her complicated context, and why she’s my muse. Read more about her at The Midlife Renaissance. Find it at the Hub. Link in bio.

Most women I know are extremely good at systems. Households, departments, other people's calendars. So when they meet the idea that their nervous system needs attention, they do the thing they have always done with a problem, which is build a structure around it.

And it works, or seems to, until a week goes sideways the way weeks do. Then the structure breaks. And here is the part that actually matters: the broken structure now costs more than the original problem did. Because now there is a standard, and you are underneath it.

That is how repair turns into another performance. And a repair conversation that becomes a performance adds load to a system whose whole difficulty is load.

This week’s article on The Midlife Renaissance is about what repair actually is, once the achievement frame comes off the table. Link to read it here:

Somewhere this month I may have made your nervous system sound like a problem to be solved.

I want to take that back, and offer you something other than fixing.

Episode 75 was just released. Link in bio to listen to this free episode.
