Center for Elders' Independence (CEI) is a non-profit health plan that's been serving the San Francisco Bay Area for over 30 years, providing the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) to seniors age 55 and older who prefer not to move into a nursing home but whose health problems make it impossible for them to stay at home without the help of caregivers. PACE is a nationally recognized model of long-term care that offers a broad range of medical, social, and day health services in home-based and community-based settings. CEI's mission statement is to provide high quality, affordable, integrated health care services to the elderly, which promote autonomy, quality of life, and the ability of individuals to live in their communities. The Fund for Elders' Independence (FEI) is a foundation supporting the work of the Center for Elders' Independence.

This week we had the honor of introducing CEI to California State Transportation Agency's Secretary of Transportation, Toks Omishakin, and his incredible team. Together we toured our center, where he learned about CEI PACE and the services we provide our seniors, followed by a visit to one of our transportation hubs where he got to learn about our transportation system and see our buses, 2 of which are electric.

Huge shout out to CEI President and CEO, Maria Zamora, and CEI Director of Government Affairs, Uche J. Uwahemu, for making this visit happen.

Last week we had the joy of celebrating Navaratri at with participants and staff across CEI. Honoring cultural traditions at the Center for Elders' Independence provides opportunities for learning, unity, and belonging, which are all vital to the health and wellbeing of our seniors.

recently hosted a Fall Festival where participants got to play games and win prizes with student volunteers from Head-Royce School. We love to see cross-generational connections made!

Our seniors enjoy hanging out with the volunteers from Head-Royce throughout the year. Together they practice speaking various languages, play games, make art, learn from each other and create valuable friendships.
