5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Became a Lash Artist
Being a great lash artist takes more than learning how to apply extensions.
Here are 5 things I wish someone had told me from the beginning:
You’re not just a lash artist—you’re a business owner.
Learning lashes is only part of it. Pricing, policies, marketing, expenses and client retention matter just as much.
Stop comparing your prices to everyone else.
Your pricing should be based on your expenses, time, products and the income you need—not what another artist charges.
Retention problems aren’t always your adhesive.
Before switching products, look at your prep, placement, environment, application and your client’s aftercare.
You don’t need every new product you see.
Find quality products you trust, learn how they work and master your technique. A new product can’t replace good technique.
Never stop learning.
Techniques change. Products improve. The industry evolves. The artists who continue learning are the ones who continue growing.
BONUS: You will probably be way harder on yourself than your clients ever will be.
Give yourself time. Take pictures. Keep learning. And remember—you don’t have to have everything figured out on day one.
