There's a lot of noise out there about weight loss, especially as we head into the cozy, comfort-food months. ❄️ Let's clear up a few myths. 👇

🔹 Myth: It's just willpower. Fact: Weight can be shaped by many things, like health history, sleep, stress, hormones, and medications.
🔹 Myth: GLP-1 medications are a shortcut. Fact: At Valor, they're one possible part of a provider-supervised plan with nutrition and lifestyle support, and only if clinically appropriate.
🔹 Myth: Everyone gets the same plan. Fact: Your plan is built around your history and goals. Individual results vary.

Good to know: some GLP-1 medications we prescribe may be compounded. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not the same as brand-name drugs, and they're prescribed only when clinically appropriate.

Curious about GLP-1 medications? You're not the only one. If you've wondered whether a medical weight loss program could be a fit, here's what to know before your first visit. 👇

GLP-1s are a group of prescription medications. Some brand-name GLP-1s are FDA-approved for chronic weight management, and some for type 2 diabetes. Some versions are compounded, and compounded medications are not FDA-approved. None of them are right for everyone, and that's exactly what a first visit is for.

At Valor Medical, a first visit with Jesse Lloyd, FNP, can include a review of your health history and medications, a conversation about your goals and what you've tried before, an exam and lab work if needed, and a straightforward talk about insurance and cost. If a medication is clinically appropriate, Jesse supervises your plan with follow-up visits and nutrition and lifestyle support, and she'll walk you through your options. If it isn't, she'll talk with you about other paths.

Individual results vary. Questions? Schedule a consult with Jesse through the link in our bio.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a good reminder to check in on your own health and the women you love. 🎗️

Breast cancer screening guidance has changed in recent years, and the right timing can depend on your age, health history, and risk. If you're not sure where you stand, that's a great reason to talk with your provider about when to start screening.

Things worth bringing up at your visit: family history, any past breast concerns, and any questions about what screening involves. And if you've noticed a change in your breast, call us to schedule a visit.

Send this to a friend, sister, or mom who'd appreciate the reminder. When you're ready, Jesse Lloyd, FNP, is here to talk it through (booking link in bio).

Getting to your goal is a huge milestone—but maintaining your progress deserves a plan too.
