This 750-year-old herbal formula, Gui Pi Tang (归脾汤), is one of the most revered blends in Chinese Medicine for chronic anxiety and insomnia.

In TCM, overthinking, constant screen time, and physical depletion hit two organs the hardest: the Spleen (which transforms what you consume into energy and blood) and the Heart (which houses the Shen, your spirit and mental clarity). When chronic mental output depletes Spleen Qi, your body stops generating enough rich blood to anchor the Heart.

The result?
👉 Restless sleep (or waking up at 3am)
👉 Brain fog, forgetfulness, and afternoon energy crashes
👉 Palpitations or a subtle, nervous flutter in the chest
👉 Lingering digestive weakness

Gui Pi Tang works through a dual-action mechanism: tonifying Qi while nourishing the Blood.

It’s not a temporary stimulant or a quick sedative. It’s deep, functional replenishment that repairs the foundation first.

At Wild Qi, we keep our cold plunge at 50 degrees intentionally.

Ultra-cold extremes are often counterproductive for women. Because the female endocrine system is highly sensitive, that intense shock can trigger a prolonged cortisol spike — disrupting metabolism, thyroid function, and hormones.

For women in reproductive years, cold tolerance drops even lower during the luteal phase, making the nervous system extra vulnerable to thermal stress.

From a Chinese Medicine perspective, cold plunges are usually not recommended for women in reproductive years because we always want to keep the uterus warm.

So why do we have a cold plunge at Wild Qi? It turns out, women don’t need freezing cold to activate brown fat or get that dopamine hit from cold plunging. The sweet spot for female physiology: 50–59°F for 2–3 minutes.

It’s cool enough to trigger the mood boost and metabolic lift, but gentle enough to protect your hormones.

As always, listen to your own body — because we’re all different!

A flawed interpretation of the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study in 2002 sparked widespread panic and set women’s healthcare back by decades.

Headlines claimed Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) carried severe cancer and heart risks. Medical education shifted almost overnight, and an entire generation of doctors was trained to fear prescribing it.

The context lost in the panic:

👉 The wrong demographic: The average participant was 63, long past menopause, not a woman in her 40s or early 50s navigating acute perimenopause symptoms.

👉 Outdated formulations: The trial focused heavily on older synthetic hormones, not the bioidentical options common today.

👉 Skewed risk reporting: The widely cited “26% increase” in breast cancer sounded terrifying, but it represented less than 1 extra case per 1,000 women per year.

Decades of updated research confirm that for most healthy, symptomatic women under 60 (or within 10 years of menopause), the benefits of HRT far outweigh the risks.

You deserve care rooted in current science, not decades-old fear.

Ready to navigate perimenopause and menopause with providers who look at the whole picture? At Wild Qi Clinic, we offer personalized, integrative women’s health support both in person at our Ojai campus and virtually.

Telling an exhausted mother to “reduce stress” or “prioritize self-care” without solving for childcare is an empty prescription.

When you have nowhere practical or trusted to take your baby, visits get delayed, chronic pain becomes normal, and survival replaces vitality.

A mother’s nervous system is the blueprint for her child’s. That means caring for the mother isn’t a luxury, it is pediatric prevention.

This is why we built childcare directly into the medicine at Wild Qi.

Introducing The Wild Mama Membership: integrated, on-site childcare steps from your treatment room, movement class, sauna session, or uninterrupted focus time.

No frantic cross-town drop-offs. No guilt. Just real, systemic support.
