Anther week fighting with our boy💛
Baker just finished a full long week of chemo and while this has become our normal, it doesn’t make it any easier. These long weeks take so much out of him not just physically but mentally. By day 3 he is asking “how many more days this week he has”
“are we done yet”
“Do we get my access out today”
“How much longer do we have to go”
“Is the cancer gone”
We hear these everyday which means he’s thinking about it everyday.
Symptoms remain the same:
Nausea
Refuse meds
Vomit
Get meds at hospital
Receive treatment
Eat
Not eat the remainder of the day
Repeat
By Friday morning he’s wired because he knows “the needle comes out of my chest today”
And he’s HYPED. Basketball started Friday night and he kicked butt literally. So much energy, making baskets and keeping up just as good as everyone else. Honestly….hes better than last season, which makes me wonder how bad he felt December and January. I’m so proud of him🥺
We are back Tuesday for VinCRISine and Pentamidine.
Everything in his scans from 2 weeks ago show that treatment is still working and all other findings will need to be monitored and watched closely with next scan.
And I hate having to type that out because it sounds so vague and unclear but it’s really all we have. Continue shrinkage. Comparing things that weren’t visible or clearly seen to next scan in hopes that it might be next time is annoying. I want to know.
Which is a big realization for me of just how much I need to continue to rely on Jesus when times are uncertain. And it’s a lot easier to say those words than DO those words.
Some of you have been here since day one, some have been here since the summer. Some of you are new.
It’s been 9 months.
261 days.
We have scans in 10 weeks.
Please continue to pray for our boy and our family. Pray for healing, for strength, and for peace in the moments when this journey feels heavier than we know how to carry. We have no idea what the next 10 weeks will hold, but we know we don’t have to walk through them alone. Thank you for continuing to love Baker, pray over him, and show up for our family in ways you may never realize. We will never stop being grateful for the people who continue to stand beside us,pray over us, and fight like hell with him. 💛
We all want to be Brave like Baker 🎗️💛
