A Nükk is more than a room that gets hot.

It’s a place you actually want to spend time in. Somewhere to slow down, have a conversation, sit quietly, or simply step away from the rest of the day for a while.

We care as much about the space as we do the heat. The materials, proportions, light, views and small details all contribute to the experience.

A sauna should work beautifully, and be beautiful, too.

When you’ve put in the time to create a beautiful garden, there’s nothing quite like having a sauna to kick back in and enjoy it! This beautiful 6’6“ x 8‘ x 9’ PNW Classic Nükk “garden sauna” was delivered yesterday, to Johan and Carolyn in Bellingham, Washington. They were an absolute pleasure to work with— and if you’re up in the Bellingham area, and would like to see a Nükk up close, let us know, they’re open to showing it!

This stunning 7’x’&x9’ PNW Classic was handcrafted with Ipe wood. One of the hardest and most durable Woods in the world. The wood is so dense, it will dull saw blades, and even sinks when placed in water.

We spend a lot of time and money planning vacations and places to get away, but most of our lives are spent at home.

With some intention, almost any home can become a place you don’t feel the need to escape from.

A sauna, a garden, a great outdoor space, or just a corner of your home that feels good to be in.

Vacation is a few weeks a year.

At Nükk, we’re interested in creating spaces that make everyday life better year in and year out.

This week we delivered a handcrafted one-of-kind Nükk Cascade with cedar shingles and a round window to Desi in Oregon City. She found a mushroom handle on Etsy that perfectly suits the build!

Sauna gets reduced to a lot of simple ideas.

“It’s just sweating.”
“It’s just relaxation.”
“It’s just good for your heart.”

The research tells a more interesting story.

From cardiovascular and cognitive health to respiratory health and the cellular response to heat, regular sauna use has been associated with benefits that go well beyond simply getting hot and sweaty.

Last month we delivered a 4 person Nükk Mod, with a Yakisugi finish, to this beautiful backyard in Lawton Park, Seattle. Just in time for the cooler PNW weather that’s around the corner.

Sometimes the best view is the one you close your eyes to.

A client recently asked us to build his sauna with just one small porthole window.

Traditionally, many Finnish saunas had little or no glass. Partly because early windows weren’t great insulators, but also because a darker sauna creates a different experience. Your attention shifts from the view to the warmth, the steam, and the quiet.

Some people want to connect with the landscape. Others want to disconnect from the outside world and turn inward.

Modern insulated windows have given us incredible design freedom, but the purpose of the sauna hasn’t changed.

Build a space that helps you slow down. A place to breathe deeply, sweat, quiet the mind, and return to the rest of your life feeling a little more grounded.

Whether that’s surrounded by glass or wrapped in cedar is entirely up to you.
