"Calendar Journal." That's how my perimenopausal brain described a Planner when I couldn't think of the word at the store." πŸ˜‚ Relax your jaw, stop crossing your legs! They'll figure it out eventually. 😎

How many times have you sat down at your computer for what you thought would be a 10 min sesh and it turned into 2 hours because you started unraveling this "there's nothing wrong with you" condition? Only to figure out your own diagnosis, create your own care plan and then actually start feeling better....?

βœ‹βœ‹βœ‹βœ‹βœ‹ Precisely the reason the pelvic yogi classes came into existence. I wasn't trying to learn how to just strengthen my pelvic floor. I needed something AT HOME that I could consistently follow and if I needed it, I knew other people would, too.

Relax your jaw friend, don't cross those legs if you can help it today. Please don't forget, you are a badass who is about to have a fantastic damn day. 😎

Been a bit of a stressful morning and I was getting out of the shower, thinking to myself, man I wish I had my "Unbothered" sweatshirt with a smiley face on it that I recently ordered but it hasn't been delivered yet. And no sooner did I say that, I looked up at my mirror and you will never believe what I saw.... 😳

God wink πŸ˜‰

Relax your jaw, don't cross your legs. We are going to be okay πŸ©·πŸ™

We frequently discuss the Pudendal Nerve and it's implications in some conditions related to pelvic pain. The word "Pudendal" actually comes from the Latin word "pudendum" and it's original translation means, "to be ashamed" referring to the external genitalia.

I bring this up because "shame" is a common theme I find with talks about pelvic health. There's definitely a hush-hush vibe that goes along with talking about our "lady bits" and my goal with this page is to BREAK THROUGH that stigma and create a place for conversation, healing, learning and connecting with one another. Every single human on this planet has a pelvis, urinates and poops (hopefully daily!)

We don't have to be ashamed of the way we were made. In fact, this body is incredible, complex and fascinating and as long as we take care of it, it's going to provide a vessel for us to experience this amazing thing called Life.
Always feel free to message me, comment or email me if you ever have a question because around here, there's never a need to feel ashamed of wanting to know more.

PS - the block you get during childbirth to help with the pain is called a Pudendal Block!

"Alternating Leg Extensions"
Practice for 1-2 minutes per set.
Go slow. High reps isn't the goal. Awareness, proper breathing and control is what mater most! This is also great for PROLAPSE since we have the pelvis elevated!

Hypertonic pelvic floor, or having a pelvic floor in a contracted/tense position, can create a lot of unwanted side effects. And here's the thing... you cannot exercise your way out of a tight muscle. Let me state that differently, you cannot Kegel your way out of a tight pelvic floor. First you need to focus on bringing awareness and connection and we can simultaneously do that while bringing space to those tissues.

"Supported Inner Thigh Stretch"
Stay 1-3 minutes either side
I love the supported version of an inner thigh stretch because it's really easy to just sink into it and soften around the areas that are being lengthened. Keep the pelvis level on the ground, the leg that is not extended can just be passive and relaxing out to the side. You'll find it easy to keep the extended leg in position because the couch is very supportive for this Posture.

Reminder... just because you don't feel "good" at something g out of the gate, doesn't mean you won't ever be good at it.

BREATHING into your pelvic floor, feeling the expansion and retraction, lifting up instead of bearing down, noticing the nuances of intro-abdominal pressure as you engage the core - these are all things that have to be practiced! Be patient with yourself 🩷🩷

Now relax your jaw, don't cross your legs and I'll see you in the mat πŸπŸ‚πŸŽƒ

Some basics about pelvic floor anatomy that you need to know! It's not a passive group of muscles just hanging out, chillin' in the basin of the pelvis. In fact, your PF muscles are constantly engaged in order to maintain continence... otherwise things would be very messy. πŸ˜πŸ’©πŸš½ What changes is their level of engagement.
