If autumn winds have you feeling a little ungrounded, try a root chakra practice to help you reconnect with what keeps you steady. 🍁

In chakra traditions, the root is located at the base of your tailbone, and it's associated with grounding, safety, stability, and your connection to the physical world.

Next time you feel scattered:

1️⃣ Get outside. Sit or stand somewhere you can feel the ground beneath you.

2️⃣ Notice what's supporting you. Notice the weight of your body. Let your shoulders soften.

3️⃣ Slow your breath. Inhale gently through your nose. Exhale slowly. Repeat for a few breaths, letting your attention stay with the sensation of being supported.

4️⃣ Take in your surroundings. Notice five things you can see, four things you can feel, three things you can hear. Let your senses bring you back to where you are.

5️⃣ Offer yourself a little reassurance. Try: I am here. I have what I need in this moment. I can move through this season at my own pace. 🫶

When the weather gets chillier, it seems like the whole world is shutting down. But what if we just can't see the life beneath the surface? 💭

This season, if we're open to it, can teach us a lot about how to reframe our own flourishing.

Many people conceptualize their wellness journey as a straight climb upward: "Be better than who you were yesterday."

But where does that leave us on the inevitable bad days? So many of us have learned to write them off as failures, and to blame ourselves if we're not constantly improving our personal best.

Instead, what if we viewed our wellbeing the same way we view the seasons?

Every year, the colder months come back. And maybe throughout your life, you notice the same issues popping up: An old injury. A chronic illness. A mental health issue you thought you'd "gotten over."

We might wish our bodies were different. We might wish winter wouldn't return. But since we know it will, we learn to expect it. We plan for it. And with enough practice, we might even welcome it—or at least learn to greet it with acceptance.

Mental health is a lot more mainstream than it used to be.

This World Mental Health Day, we're grateful that our cultural conversation has expanded. At the same time, we want to acknowledge the parts that popular culture still loves to gloss over:

🧠 Mental health exists on a spectrum.

It's not something you either have or you don't. Like all other parts of your wellbeing, it comes in cycles, getting better and worse at various points throughout your life.

🧠 Some mental health conditions are chronic—but that's not a reason to despair.

Just like a physical condition doesn't change a person's inherent worth, a lifelong mental health challenge doesn't change the value of your life. Even on the worst days, you are enough.

🧠 Self-care requires supportive structures.

Our society often frames wellbeing as an individual pursuit of self-improvement. It's true that mental health requires inner work. It also requires things like fulfilled basic needs, solid social support, access to mental health professionals, and more.

The question is: How can you support your mental health with the resources you have right now?

Good news/bad news ⬇️

Most of the legitimate wellness advice out there isn't that exciting. Eat a variety of nutritious foods; move your body; get good sleep; seek social support.

On the one hand, maybe it's a relief to know you've heard all the important stuff before. Since there is no magic fix, you can stop looking for it.

But getting realistic about wellness can also be scary. It means acknowledging some hard truths:

1️⃣ Our health isn't completely within our control.
2️⃣ There's a lot science still can't tell us about our bodies.
3️⃣ And there are no one-size-fits-all answers.

The best wellness advice available to us is so generic that it leaves a lot of room for individuality. It gives us nuance and variability, when all we want are universally applicable, black-and-white answers.

As we set intentions this fall, we're shedding the expectation that we need to know/control everything in order to take good care of ourselves.

With any goal we set this season, we want love to be at the center.

Loving acceptance opens up a safe space for us to relate to our bodies—maybe for the first time in years.

From there, we can actually listen to our own experience, and grow the confidence we need to set aside what harms us, and find out what feels good.

Had a great time with the team at our annual Harvest Retreat!

A lot of growth can happen in a year. 🍂

What are you grateful for this fall? And what are you ready to let go of?

For our part, we're sending lots of gratitude to Omaha Therapy and Arts Collaborative & NExT Foundation—huge thanks to them for providing us with the space to gather together, reflect, and celebrate all that 2026 brought us! 🙏
