Día de los Mu***os is a beautiful, multi-day tradition centered on remembering and celebrating loved ones who have passed. Families create ofrendas, or altars, with photos and meaningful items to honor their loved ones and the memories they shared. 🧡✨

In celebration, we’re creating a virtual ofrenda at our Live On Nebraska office to honor loved ones and donor heroes. DM us your photo by Wednesday, October 28th to be included. Photos will not be shared publicly and will only be displayed within our office as part of this special tribute.

Live On Nebraska was excited to once again partner with Clarkson College for our annual fall Donation & Transplantation Field Trip! 🫀🔍🚌

Local high school students spent the day learning about organ and tissue donation through hands-on sessions, in-depth conversations with Live On Nebraska staff, and meaningful stories from those personally impacted by the gift of life.

We wrapped up the day with our always-competitive Donation & Transplantation Trivia Challenge. Congratulations to our fall 2026 champions, Cedar Bluffs High School! 🏆

On , donor mom Becky shares about her son Trevor, and how getting involved with The Compassionate Friends has helped her family in their grief journey.

"Trevor Jackson Canaday...there is not a simple way to describe him, but I will try.

The biggest part of Trevor was the happy and joy that he lived every day with and loved spreading around to others. Who he was varied so much— from a sensitive, big-hearted guy with big hugs helping others (especially those being mistreated/bullied) all the way to a tough lineman on the football field and catcher on the baseball field.

He was the first football player to make Millard South's show choir! He used his dancing and singing skills to make the front row...as a freshman! Eclectic is a great word to describe Trevor! He was able to balance all the different interests and adventures that he loved.

He loved spending time with family and friends and was always up for new experiences! He had a laugh that enveloped his entire being! Especially when he was making up his "dad jokes." We didn't always understand his jokes, but his laughter was contagious!

He was the BEST younger BIG Brother ever! He enjoyed attending all his sisters' sporting events (might have been because the number of cute girls was high).

Trevor decided to become a donor when his oldest sister Tessa got her license and chose to become a donor. He was sure to remind us of his wishes when his other older sister Zoee did the same.

Trevor's donation is bittersweet. He was not able to donate all he wished to, but we know in our hearts that what he could donate is doing good in the world. Trevor's HAPPY lives on!

The Compassionate Friends was recommended to us by my sister in New York. She had friends who lost a son and found a community to help them navigate their loss.

We attended our first meeting in March 2019, just 4 months after Trevor's passing. This group has been such a support. It is only for people who have lost a child, grandchild, or sibling. They 'get it' because child loss is so very different, because it is NOT the 'correct order' of what we commonly believe about grief."

"Tommy was my hero because he was one of a kind. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. Tommy's family always came first, and his baseball teams loved him. Tommy was a hard worker. Even during his chemo treatments, he went to work. Tommy's grandpa got a liver transplant in 1992, and it gave him another 6 years of life. Tommy saw what organ donation could do for someone suffering and how much it meant for the recipient's family to have more time with their loved one." - Deb, mother of donor hero, Tommy Aldana

"Imad is my hero because after surviving a heart and liver transplant and undergoing multiple other surgeries, he has shown me the true meaning of perseverance, strength, and hope. No matter what he has faced, he continues to approach life with a smile." - Feryal, recipient family member

"My big brother Mark is my hero because when it was time for us to get tested as living donors for our Mom, he did not hesitate. The timing worked out because he was home on a break from playing semi-pro basketball overseas. He donated and went back to playing basketball without missing a beat. He was a perfect match, and his donation provided our Mom 12+ years of life." - Shanda, sister to living donor, Mark

Today is and the perfect opportunity to share our gratitude for the family of Rodney "Rod" Baumgart. Rod became a donor hero in 2011, impacting 95 people through his gift of tissue donation. Shortly after, Rod's wife, Laura, and their son, Ryan, started an annual golf tournament, the Rodski Open, to honor Rod and raise money for charities close to their heart.

This year marked the 15th anniversary of the Rodski Open, and Ryan and Laura's most ambitious goal yet—to raise $15,000 for Live On Nebraska. Earlier this week, Laura, Ryan, Rod's sister Lori, and her husband Jim presented Live On Nebraska with a check for more than $16,000.

We are grateful to the Baumgarts, Coplins, and all of Rod's friends and family for their continued support of our mission. Fifteen years after his death, Rod's legacy proudly lives on! ❤️
