Congratulations Tommy on your retirement!!!
Some people have a job.
Some people have a career.
And then there are people who spend their lives becoming a part of a community.
For 50 years, Tommy Morgan has been that person.
When Tommy began his career as a pharmacist, he could never have known just how many people he would eventually impact. Five decades later, the number is impossible to count.
He has handed prescriptions to generations of Oneonta families. He has answered questions when people were worried, offered advice when they weren’t sure what to do, and cracked a joke to brighten the day of those feeling down. And rarely did a kid come in for an antibiotic and not get asked, “Did you know this is for kissing disease?”
He has watched children grow up and come back with children of their own, even grandchildren now.
He has celebrated with people during their happiest moments, and comforted them during some of their hardest.
His laugh that can be heard clear across town is infectious. It’s why so many people came to this pharmacy… to see Tommy. You could catch him spending hours out front, talking to people that came in. If you ever saw him throw his leg up on the counter or on a chair, just buckle up because that conversation was going to last! But it was because he LOVES talking to people.
From the “Old Blue Store” downtown, to the location now, memories made will be cherished by countless people.
The pharmacy profession has changed dramatically since Tommy started, but his dedication and care for his patients never did. There’s something special about spending 50 years (almost all in one community) doing something so meaningful. You become a permanent part of the history of that community. And that is exactly what Tommy has done.
From everyone at Alaco, thank you for everything you’ve done for us. Thank you for the knowledge and wisdom you shared with us, but especially the memories.
This community is better for having you as a part of it. And we are better for getting to work with/for you. Your impact will be felt for generations. Thank you for all you’ve done for us!
Enjoy your retirement! You’ve certainly earned it!
