This hike kicked my ass. 😂
The climb to Catamount Reservoir was NO joke.
And those “switchbacks” at the beginning? I’m not sure I’d even call that hiking. It felt more like climbing over rocks while repeatedly asking, “Are we seriously going UP THERE?” 😂
But going up wasn’t actually the hardest part for me.
Coming back down was.
Because then I had to climb DOWN those same rocks… while dealing with my very real fear of falling off the side of a mountain. 😳
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I kept thinking about this:
I never want fear to be the reason I miss the view.
But I also never want my health, strength, or physical ability to be the reason I miss it either.
THIS is why I work out.
Not just for a number on the scale.
Not just for how my clothes fit.
Not just to look a certain way.
I want a body that lets me say YES to my life.
I want to climb the mountain.
I want to take the hard trail.
I want to see what’s at the top.
And yeah… sometimes I want to be scared as hell coming back down and still know that my body is strong enough to get me there. 😂
Because that view?
Worth every damn step. 🏔️❤️
Train for the life you want to live.

Our family has never been particularly good at doing things the normal way. 😂
So naturally, when we went to Colorado, we didn’t rent a normal house.
We rented an adobe house tucked right into the mountains — because if we’re going somewhere, we want the EXPERIENCE. 🏔️
It was perfect.
Beautiful views. Cool house. Mountains all around us.
One tiny problem…
No gym.
No real place nearby to go for a quick walk.
But what we DID have was a driveway that was about ¼ mile long and was approximately 10 floors. 😂
So… driveway workouts it was.
Down. Up. Pushups. Down. Up. Pushups.
Because apparently even our vacation workouts can’t be normal.
But that’s pretty much how we do life. We find the weird house. We take the adventure. We laugh a lot. We figure it out as we go.
And I wouldn’t want our family any other way. ❤️

“I gained FIVE pounds on vacation!”
Did you though? 😂
Because gaining five pounds on the scale and gaining five pounds of BODY FAT are two very different things.
After vacation you may be carrying extra water from more carbs and sodium. When you eat more carbs than usual, you replenish glycogen—and glycogen is stored along with water. Add restaurant food, extra sodium and alcohol—which can mess with hydration, sleep and digestion—and the scale can jump FAST without all of that weight being body fat.
And yes, you may have eaten more calories than usual.
But when you get home and the scale jumps, please don't immediately decide you've undone months of progress.
And PLEASE don't punish yourself for having fun.
When I go on vacation, I decide ahead of time which meals are going to be my cheat meals. I enjoy the hell out of them, don't feel guilty about them, and eat pretty normally the rest of the time.
Then I come home and go right back to normal.
No starving.
No punishment workouts.
No “detox.”
No guilt.
Drink your water. Eat your protein and vegetables. Get back to your workouts. Give your body a few days to normalize.
You went on vacation.
You didn't commit a felony. 😂

“But my doctor said all my labs were normal.”
I hear this ALL. THE. TIME.
And sometimes they absolutely are.
But sometimes “normal” simply means your number landed somewhere inside a very broad reference range—and that doesn't automatically tell me that everything is functioning optimally for YOU.
Especially when you're sitting across from me telling me you're exhausted, freezing, constipated, losing your hair, gaining weight, have zero libido, can't sleep, and suddenly the sound of your husband chewing makes you question your entire marriage. 😂
Lab work matters. Reference ranges matter. But so do patterns, trends, your history, and—this part is important—YOUR SYMPTOMS.
I don't treat a piece of paper.
I look at the person sitting in front of me and ask why they don't feel well.
Because “within range” and “I feel freaking amazing” are not necessarily the same thing.

10/07/2026

“But all my friends have that too.”
I hear some version of this ALL. THE. TIME.
And that’s exactly how women end up living with symptoms for years.
When everyone around you is exhausted, struggling with PMS, waking up at night, constipated, relying on caffeine and wondering where their s*x drive went…it starts to feel normal.
Common doesn’t automatically mean healthy.
Symptoms are clues. 🕵️‍♀️
Instead of only asking, “What can I take to make this symptom go away?” I want to know:
WHY is your body doing this?
Hormones? Blood sugar? Thyroid? Nutrient deficiencies? Stress? Sleep? Gut health? Something else entirely?
That’s where the investigation starts.
Which symptom have you been told is “just normal”? 👇

Perimenopause: when you’re trying VERY hard to communicate like a healthy, emotionally regulated adult… but progesterone has left the building and estrogen is doing whatever the hell she wants. 😂
One minute you’re calmly explaining why something bothered you.
The next minute you’re apologizing for telling your husband to shut the f**k up… while simultaneously trying to explain all the reasons he deserved it. 😂
And listen, hormones don't excuse treating people badly. But they absolutely can change the size of the fuse.
As estrogen and progesterone begin fluctuating during perimenopause, some women notice more irritability, anxiety, emotional sensitivity, and that lovely feeling of going from “I’m fine” to “EVERYONE STOP TALKING” in approximately 4.7 seconds.
If you suddenly feel like your reactions are bigger than the situation—or you keep thinking, Who the hell am I lately?—it might be worth looking at your hormones.
And husbands… maybe just let her finish the sentence. For your own safety. 😂

10/02/2026

Yes, I really do want to know about your p**p. 😂
And your period.
And your sleep.
And your s*x life.
And what you ate yesterday.
And how you exercise.
And whether you’re stressed out of your damn mind.
Because those aren’t completely separate conversations.
Your body is an interconnected system, and symptoms that seem unrelated can sometimes give us important clues about where to investigate next.
So if you’ve ever wondered why I ask SO MANY QUESTIONS…
That’s why.

Ladies, before you get mad at me… hear me out. 😂

You’re resentful because you’re carrying the mental load, there are 8 things left on your to-do list, he hasn’t noticed ANY of them, and now he’s wondering why you’re not interested in heading to the bedroom.

But here’s the question:

Have you actually told him what you need?

Because chances are, he is NOT walking through the house thinking, “Hmmm… I bet unloading this dishwasher would really turn my wife on tonight.” 😂

Meanwhile, he may be trying to connect with you physically because that’s one of the ways he feels loved and connected.

And there you are thinking, “Sir, bedroom time is currently #9 on a list that already has 8 things I don’t want to do.” 😂

THIS is where communication matters.

Tell him: “When I’m overwhelmed and still carrying everything at the end of the day, it is really hard for me to switch gears and want bedroom time. I need your help.”

But ladies… there’s another side to this.

If you communicate what you need and he starts showing up, helping, taking things off your plate and making an effort to love you in the way you need to be loved…

Show up for him, too.

Not because doing the dishes earns him bedroom time.

Because a great marriage requires both people learning how the other person receives love, and then actually making an effort to give it.

He may need to understand that helping carry the load can create space for intimacy.

And you may need to understand that physical intimacy can be one of the ways he feels loved, wanted and connected to you.

Neither one of you is a mind reader.

COMMUNICATE.

You might be surprised what happens in the kitchen AND the bedroom. 😏😂
