I’ll do it tomorrow…I promise 🤞🏻

A few years ago, you were losing sleep over things you barely even think about anymore.

It’s way too easy to get so wrapped up in the daily grind that you treat life like one giant, endless crisis drill. But pause for two seconds. Unclench your jaw. Drop your shoulders.

Past-you would be pretty damn impressed with the stuff you’re handling right now. Don’t get so caught up in where you think you “should” be that you forget to give yourself credit for how far you’ve actually come.

(And if you need a spot to catch your breath and recalibrate, our team at The Anchor Point is always here. )

Don’t we love treating self-care like an optional side quest? It’s like we pencil it in only after every single email is answered, the house is spotless, and everyone else is taken care of.

But that’s usually how you end up standing in the kitchen in the middle of the night having an existential crisis.

Real self-care is making actual, non-negotiable time for the stuff that keeps your brain from short-circuiting.

Sometimes that’s going to bed instead of doom-scrolling or it’s setting a boundary. And sometimes it’s sitting on a couch and sorting through the noise with someone who can help you figure out why you’ve been feeling so stuck.

Please don’t wait until the wheels completely fall off to ask for backup.

I might have been…a little…over zealous with the scheduling. Just a tad. But we shall persevere! 😅

As therapists, we’re technically supposed to tell you that communication is key and ghosting is bad.

And sure, 99% of the time, it is.

But if you’re forced to choose between leaving someone on read or ditching your session? Ghost them. Not us. 🤗

Your ex is the reason your nervous system is in knots in the first place friend. Your therapist is the one helping you untie it.

When you cancel last minute because the week got super busy or things feel a little too much to talk about, that’s when you aren't dodging us, you’re just ghosting yourself.

Don’t hit send. Keep your appointment. We’ve got a comfortable couch, zero judgment, and an hour reserved entirely for you.

People think therapy is only for when the house is on fire, or that progress only counts when you’re having some massive, emotional breakthrough.

But some of the absolute biggest wins in the therapy room are the quiet ones. The ones that prove you’re actually trusting yourself, trusting the process, and even calling me out when I miss the mark.

Side note: If you can tell your therapist "hey, that thing you said last week didn't sit right with me," you are officially winning at taking up space and standing your ground. (And no, my ego doesn't get bruised. That’s literally the good stuff.)

Setting a boundary feels like being an a**hole when you’ve spent your whole life people-pleasing.

Read that one again.

Most of us were taught that being a good person means saying yes to everything, shrinking ourselves to make others comfortable, and lighting ourselves on fire to keep everyone else warm. Then we wonder why we’re constantly exhausted, anxious, and secretly bitter toward the people we care about.

Boundaries aren’t a punishment for other people. They aren’t mean, cold, or selfish.

A boundary is just an instruction manual for how someone can be in your life without burning you out. Saying “I can’t take that on,” “I need space,” or straight-up “No” isn’t an attack on them. It’s an act of self-preservation for you.

If setting a limit makes someone mad, it usually just means they were benefiting from you having no boundaries in the first place.

Learning to hold the line without drowning in guilt takes work, especially if you’ve spent years putting yourself last.

When here when you’re ready to get comfortable with your own “no”.

Ok so you walked into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Then somehow it’s forty-five minutes later and you’ve reorganized the junk drawer, started a load of laundry you’ll definitely forget in the washer until tomorrow, researched vintage boots on eBay, and you’re still thirsty.

Welcome to the ADHD side-quest.

If you’ve gone your whole life thinking you’re lazy, lack discipline, or that you don’t care, I’m here to tell you that your brain is just running on a totally different dopamine engine. When mundane tasks feel like wading through wet cement, but random hyperfixations feel like driving a sports car, that’s neurodivergence.

So don’t beat yourself up for not operating like a spreadsheet.

If you’ve been suspecting that you might be a little neurospicy, we offer ADHD Diagnostic Assessment at The Anchor Point.
