Sleep apnea is more than just snoring!

Today, Dr. Roger Seheult is taking a closer look at obstructive sleep apnea and COPD, highlighting important considerations that go beyond the most obvious symptoms and treatments.

A few clinical pearls:

• Sleep apnea doesn't always present with classic symptoms. Fatigue, morning headaches, and mood changes can be important clues.
• CPAP can improve daytime sleepiness and quality of life, although evidence for preventing major cardiovascular events is mixed.
• Managing COPD involves more than inhalers. Smoking cessation, vaccinations, and pulmonary rehabilitation all play important roles.

A great reminder that effective respiratory care means looking at the bigger picture!

GLP-1 medications are changing more than just the number on the scale!

Day 4 of our 16th Annual Primary Care Fall Conference is underway in beautiful Maui!

Today, Dr. Jennifer Green is exploring the latest advances in incretin-based therapies and working through real-world endocrinology and diabetes cases.

One important takeaway? GLP-1 therapies are becoming an increasingly important part of cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic care.

Today's clinical pearls:
• Consider cardiovascular and kidney health alongside blood glucose management.
• Individualize diabetes treatment based on each patient's conditions, risks, and medication tolerance.
• Remember that the best treatment plan is one a patient can realistically follow.

From emerging medications to challenging patient cases, today's sessions are helping clinicians connect the latest evidence with everyday primary care.

When it comes to heart health, more testing doesn't always mean better care.

We're continuing Day 3 of our Primary Care Fall Conference in Maui with Dr. Matthew Cavender, exploring the evaluation and management of coronary artery disease.

One important takeaway from today's presentation? Routine stress testing isn't recommended for many patients without cardiac symptoms.

Instead, Dr. Cavender highlights the importance of individualized cardiovascular risk assessment, recognizing concerning symptoms, and choosing appropriate testing and treatment strategies.

Today's clinical pearls:
• Assess cardiovascular risk before ordering tests.
• Remember that chest pain doesn't always feel like chest pain.
• Tailor treatment decisions to symptoms and clinical risk.

Another great day of practical medical education here in Maui!

Heart health isn't just about cholesterol numbers. What's on your plate matters, too!

We're continuing Day 2 of our Primary Care Fall Conference in beautiful Maui with Dr. Laurence Sperling, exploring cardiovascular prevention from two important angles.

His presentations focus on lipid-related risk as part of overall cardio-kidney-metabolic health and the dietary patterns that support long-term heart health.

Today's clinical pearls:
• Look beyond LDL cholesterol when evaluating cardiovascular risk.
• Consider how kidney and metabolic health influence the bigger picture.
• Focus on sustainable eating patterns rather than short-term fad diets.

From cardiovascular risk assessment to practical nutrition strategies, it's another day of education attendees can bring back to their patients!

We're kicking off Day 1 of the 16th Annual Primary Care Fall Conference in beautiful Maui, Hawaii!

GLP-1 medications are transforming obesity management, but what happens when patients experience side effects or lose weight too quickly?

Dr. Donna Ryan took the stage today to explore the latest advances in obesity medications and share practical strategies for safer, more effective treatment.

A few clinical takeaways:
• GLP-1-related nausea is often dose-dependent. Slower titration can make a difference.
• Rapid weight loss requires careful monitoring of hydration, nutrition, and potential complications.
• Successful obesity management goes beyond the number on the scale.

Great insights to start an exciting week of CME in Maui! Thank you Dr. Ryan!
