As clinical trials extend beyond the traditional site, principal investigators are increasingly responsible for work carried out by people they don’t directly supervise or contract, including local providers, visiting nurses, and remote data collection vendors.
These external parties may perform trial activities, but accountability still sits with the investigator. Until now, there has been little practical guidance for navigating that gap.
Tomorrow, the MRCT Center and Medable will introduce 4 resources designed to address it:
→ Optimizing Decentralized Elements in Clinical Trials (DCTs): The sponsor's design tool for determining which activities are appropriate to move off-site.
→ Proportional Oversight Framework for Clinical Trials with Decentralized Elements: Translates those choices into a site-level approach calibrated to risk, rather than applying the same standard everywhere.
→ HCP Instruction Sheet: A model template, pre-filled by the sponsor and site, giving local providers clear direction on exactly what is expected of them.
→ HCP Check-In Questions for Participants: A consistent approach to understanding how participants are doing between visits, including worked responses across nine different scenarios.
This webinar will walk through each resource and, importantly, show how they work together to support decentralized trial delivery.
Each tool is designed for principal investigators, study coordinators, IRB reviewers, and sponsors incorporating hybrid and digital elements into their studies.
