1 in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy in their lifetime. Epilepsy Services of New Jersey (ESNJ) walks for the one. The one who makes epilepsy more than a statistic, the one who inspires us, the one we miss, the one still waiting for answers.

On October 18, ESNJ brings families and supporters to Johnson Park in Piscataway for its 13th annual Walk for the ONE, funding the support services and education it provides across the state. SK Life Science, Inc. is proud to support this work.

Every conversation about SUDEP can help build awareness. And greater awareness can empower people living with epilepsy and their families to have important conversations about their care.

SK Life Science is proud to support CURE Epilepsy and The Cameron Boyce Foundation in their efforts to raise awareness of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), advance research, and provide education and resources to the epilepsy community.

As part of that commitment, we’re matching donations to CURE Epilepsy dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.

Together, we can help bring greater awareness to SUDEP and provide the epilepsy community with information and resources that support informed conversations and action.

The National Plan for Epilepsy Act passed the Senate on August 4 and now needs to pass the House before it can become law.

The bill would direct the federal government to develop a National Plan for Epilepsy to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure epilepsy. It calls for a review of existing federal epilepsy programs, an advisory council that includes people from the epilepsy community and priorities that range from research and public awareness to reducing Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) and expanding access to specialized care.

Epilepsy Alliance America has made it simple to ask your representative to cosponsor. It takes about two minutes.

The Epilepsy Foundation of America's Purple Pumpkin Project invites people to paint a pumpkin purple this month and raise funds for epilepsy education and support programs.

Why purple? Neighbors notice, kids ask why, and it sparks a conversation about epilepsy.

Our colleagues are painting theirs this month, and we encourage you to join.

Eighteen paintings by children living with epilepsy, lit one at a time until they form a single sky.

That is Neural Universe, the installation our parent company SK Biopharmaceuticals brought to the Korea Social Value Festa in Seoul. The artwork came out of Epic Day, a program that brought children and their families together with the Korean Epilepsy Association this year. The kids painted what epilepsy looks like from the inside, and their parents sat with clinicians and talked through treatment.

"Epic Day is a program that has created meaningful connections by listening to the voices of patients and families," said SK Biopharmaceuticals CEO Donghoon Lee.

Commitment to the epilepsy community runs across SK, not just here in the U.S. Learn more about the exhibition: https://en.nocutnews.co.kr/news/6581532

Appointments are short, and a great deal rides on what gets said during them.

In our Hope, Hesitancy, and Hard Truths survey, 18% of people living with epilepsy said they are not sure how to track or describe their seizures well enough to explain them.

This gap in how information moves between people is exactly what Health Literacy Month aims to close.

A night of connection can help carry an important mission forward.

Tomorrow, The Danny Did Foundation will welcome the epilepsy community to Chicago for its 17th Annual Evening of Hearts & Hugs. The benefit will bring families and supporters together to help fund the Foundation’s work for people affected by epilepsy and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP).

Danny’s legacy continues through a mission focused on helping families better understand seizure risks, raise awareness of SUDEP and access resources that can make a difference. SK Life Science is honored to support an evening that helps sustain that work.

Caring for people with epilepsy takes a connected care team, and advanced practice providers (APPs) play an important role in helping them navigate that care over time.

During National APP Week, we recognize the expertise APPs bring to epilepsy care and thank them for the compassion and commitment they bring to patients every day. Supporting APPs also means supporting the continued learning and connection that helps strengthen their work.

That is where Epilepsy Connect comes in. Our free platform for U.S.-based APPs offers epilepsy-focused courses and peer connection, alongside accredited CME/CE webinars.

Sometimes hearing someone say the thing you have been thinking can make life with epilepsy feel a little less isolating.

That is part of what host Landis Wiedner brings to the What the Ef?! podcast. Through candid conversations with people who know epilepsy from different sides, Season 11 made room for the questions, frustrations and everyday realities that do not always make it into the usual discussion about the condition. At SK Life Science, we value spaces where people affected by epilepsy can speak openly about their experiences.

Hearing those perspectives can help listeners feel less alone in navigating epilepsy.

Catch up on What the Ef?! and dive into Season 12: https://www.whattheefpodcast.com/

In our Hope, Hesitancy, and Hard Truths survey, 72% of people living with epilepsy said they do not report all of their seizures to their doctor, often out of concern about losing independence or a belief that a seizure was not significant enough to mention. Safer care depends on what gets said out loud.

Naming a side effect that is disrupting daily life. Asking what a medication change will mean week to week. Those details are easy to leave out of a short appointment and hard to act on once they go unsaid.

That gap is exactly what World Patient Safety Day is about closing. Read the survey findings: https://www.sklifescienceinc.com/news-media/ -report
