💙 “When can I hold my baby?” 👶

For parents in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), that question carries love, uncertainty and a longing to feel close. 💕

At Studer Family Children’s Hospital, your baby’s care team can help you understand when holding is appropriate and how you can participate in their care.

🤱 Even when holding needs to wait, you have an important role. Ask your baby’s care team:

💬 “Can I hold my baby today? If holding needs to wait, how can I help care for and comfort them?”

💙 Your questions matter. Your involvement matters. You are an important part of your baby’s care team. 👶✨

🧸 A clear sleep space is a safer sleep space.

This October, Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart is sharing Cribs for Kids® safe-sleep guidance to help families and caregivers create safer sleep environments for babies. 👶💙

Place baby on their back in a safety-approved crib, bassinet or play yard with a firm, flat sleep surface and only a fitted sheet.

🚫 Keep loose blankets, pillows, crib bumpers, wedges, toys and stuffed animals out of the sleep space. These items can increase the risk of suffocation and other sleep-related infant deaths.

Every sleep counts. Learn more: http://ascn.io/6184BGNOdg

🎃👻 Spooky slime and Halloween smiles! 🧡

Our Child Life team brought some Halloween magic to the playroom with a Spooky Slime Party for our patients and families! 🧪✨ From squishy, stretchy slime to spooky smiles, it was a fun-filled opportunity for children to get creative, play and enjoy a little seasonal fun during their hospital stay. 🎨💚

At Studer Family Children’s Hospital, we believe that play is an important part of a child’s hospital experience. 💜 We strive to create opportunities for joy, connection and positive experiences for children and families, even when they’re away from home.

🦽💜 October is National Physical Therapy Month!

For school-age children, movement is an important part of learning, playing and becoming more independent. At Studer Family Children’s Hospital, pediatric physical therapists help children develop gross motor skills—including posture, core strength, balance, walking and coordination. 🤸

Through personalized activities and exercises, therapists work with children and families toward goals that support school, play and everyday routines.

If you have concerns about your child’s movement, balance, coordination or recovery from an injury, talk with their healthcare provider. A physician referral is required for pediatric rehabilitation services.

This month, we celebrate the physical therapists who help children move, play and participate more fully in everyday life. 💜

💙 Through the storm, our care teams were there. ⛈️

When Hurricane Isaias moved across the Florida Panhandle, care teams at Studer Family Children's Hospital and Ascension Sacred Heart hospitals remained by their patients' sides, even when it meant staying overnight to avoid dangerous conditions outside.

🏥 From NICU nurses and physicians to respiratory therapists, environmental services, facilities, security, and food and nutrition teams, our associates worked together to keep patients safe and cared for throughout the storm.

🙏 To every associate who cared for patients during the storm and everyone helping our communities recover: Thank you. Your dedication and compassion make a difference. A special thank you to the Nemours team as well!

We're also happy to share that all Ascension Sacred Heart care sites across Northwest Florida have returned to normal operations! Our care teams are reaching out to reschedule appointments affected by storm-related closures and expanding access to care as needed. 🌤️

💙 No matter the weather, caring for our community remains at the heart of what we do.

💙 During National Children’s Health Month, Studer Family Children’s Hospital is reminding families that supporting children’s health starts with everyday habits—and knowing when to ask for support.

🏀 Build healthy routines. Make time for consistent sleep, active play, balanced meals and time together.

🤾 Prioritize preventive care. Keep up with well-child visits and talk with your child’s provider about their growth and development.

🏈 Speak up about changes. Share concerns about your child’s health, mood or behavior with their healthcare provider.

👟 Ask about next steps. Leave each visit knowing what to watch for, when to follow up and who to contact with questions.

Every stage brings new questions. Asking them is an important part of caring for your child. 💙

Ask questions and share concerns—these conversations can help your child’s care team understand their needs and determine the right care.

🙏💙 “Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant.” — Luke 12:37

When Hurricane Isaias moved across the Florida Panhandle, Ascension Sacred Heart care teams stood ready at the bedside. 🏥❤️

From Pensacola to Panama City, associates sheltered in place to care for patients through the storm. Nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, environmental services, facilities, security, and food and nutrition teams kept our hospitals running, often setting aside concerns about their own homes and loved ones to be there for patients. 🤝

Vigilance calls for physical readiness along with mental and spiritual alertness. At Ascension Sacred Heart, that readiness is built year-round through emergency planning, training, drills and collaboration with local partners to ensure our teams are prepared when it matters most. ⛈️

As Ascension celebrates Mission Month, we recognize the dedication of our associates who continue , responding with compassion, courage and grace when our communities need them most. 💙✨

Thank you to every associate who cared for patients through the storm and every team member helping our communities recover. Your commitment to our Mission makes a difference every day. ❤️
