When we become more aware of our emotions, understand our patterns, our values, and our needs, we can then take action to create a life that honors our authenticity - coming into alignment with our true nature. What does the word โ€˜communityโ€™ actually ask of us?

Com: together
Communis: what is shared in common
Communitas: the relationship created through that sharing
Munus: gift, duty, service, obligation

Thereโ€™s something useful in that last part :: community was never meant to be passive

It isnโ€™t only where we go to receive, it asks something of us. Not sameness. Not agreement. Participation. Something exists between us, and by choosing to be part of it, we become partly responsible for what it becomes. Choice.

Community Day was an opportunity to witness that here at WAKE.

So much gratitude to everyone who came through, shared, received, and changed the room by being in it.

Weโ€™re curious about what becomes possible when we keep participating in it, together.

We are deeply honored, wildly grateful, and honestly still trying to process what this means. This recognition belongs to every practitioner, client, collaborator and person who has believed in what weโ€™re building here.

if youโ€™ve ever read Braiding Sweetgrass, you know the story of Sky Woman

the woman who fell from the sky carrying seeds in her hands. and as she fell, the animals gathered beneath her, understanding instinctively that she could not survive alone. the birds lifted her. the turtle offered his back. the animals dove deep into the water searching for earth so that new life could begin.

there is something deeply moving about the idea that the world begins not through domination, but through care. through cooperation & creation rooted in relationship to the earth and to one another.

with motherโ€™s day around the corner, weโ€™re thinking about the women who hold so much. the ones who create, tend, nourish, grieve, guide, soften, and continue loving despite the weight they often carry so honorably.

there is a tenderness in the idea that the world begins with something, someone :: a woman, being held โ™ก
