12/18/2013: TERRIFIED OF MY OWN THOUGHTS.

Lol oh my GODDDD. I got this notification this morning of my “8-year anniversary” on a journal I wrote this one entry in.

It’s incredible to be able to look back and be reminded of how TERRIFIED I was of my own thoughts and to be alone with them.

One of the BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT tools I’ve learned on my spiritual healing journey and worked with was this: 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭
𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒.

Swipe right for a special treat❤️

Not a lot of people know this about me, but I used to struggle with self-doubt and second guessing myself ALL the time (helllooo my fellow perfectionists). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A lot of it had to do with making wrong decisions growing up, making ‘mistakes’ and thinking I was ‘bad’. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember feeling so down on myself... as though it was the end of the world that I wasn’t absolutely perfect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You know when you’re faced with two or more decisions, and you have no idea which option to pick because you don’t want to pick the wrong one?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Specifically, here’s what it looked like for me... not knowing what to do so I would ask someone else what THEY think I should do, having obsessive thinking and loads of fear. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There were 2 main ways that I got through this:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣By cultivating my trust in myself: It did NOT come overnight, but I learned that the first option I want to pick is almost ALWAYS the right one. Our brains are made to analyze and when its overactive PLUS if it’s experienced some trauma, it will over analyze the hell out of your first choice to make you second guess yourself. The key is awareness- once you are aware that this is a ‘normal behavior’ for you, you can watch it come up and make a different decision. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣Realizing that I’m a different person today and I make WAAAY better and more responsible decisions than I did as a kid because I learned how to think through my options and ‘play the tape out’. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The three things that I took away from this were: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ Nobody is perfect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ Nobody should make a decision for you except you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣ We ALL make mistakes, and that’s okay. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I’m sharing this because if you’re in this boat, I want you to know that it WILL get better and I’m here to support you💗⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you experienced anything similar before? How did it show up for you?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sending love🌹
