Team Gleason Foundation today announced a five-year strategic partnership with Tolt Technologies LLC to improve access to advanced equipment and technology for people and families living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). As part of the agreement, Tolt Technologies will donate Ability Drive® for iPad kits to Team Gleason, giving people living with ALS a system that lets them control their seating and drive their wheelchair using only their eyes.

Ability Drive® for iPad currently supports three devices, the Tolt Technologies A13i, the Forbes ProSlate 13™ with Enable Eyes®, and the Apple Vision Pro, with Vision Pro support newly available in visionOS 27. The integration represents a significant step forward for the ALS community: individuals who rely on eye-tracking technology to communicate can now use that same eye control to navigate the world around them, bridging Apple’s spatial computing platform with real-world mobility in a way that wasn’t possible before.

Encouraging news for the FUS-ALS community. Otsuka and Ionis Pharmaceuticals have announced positive topline results from the Phase 3 FUSION trial of ulefnersen, an investigational RNA-targeted medicine for FUS-ALS, a rare, often rapidly progressive genetic form of ALS.

The study met its primary endpoint, showing a statistically significant improvement over placebo on a combined measure of function and survival. Secondary endpoints were also supportive, and the treatment was generally well tolerated. FUSION is the first placebo-controlled trial targeting the underlying genetic cause of FUS-ALS.

Ulefnersen is still investigational and not yet approved. The companies plan to discuss the results with the FDA and other health authorities. Thank you to the participants, families, investigators, and advocates who made this possible. 💙 Learn more at otsuka.com/news
