We champion independence through innovative, life-enhancing services and communities. For nearly 150 years, Inglis has provided services and programs designed to maximize the independence of adults with physical disabilities, at Inglis House, in more than a dozen housing communities in the region and through community-based services across Pennsylvania. Our mission is to enable people with disabilities โ€“ and those who care for them โ€“ to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest. Today, Inglis serves more than 2,000 individuals annually. Strength comes in many forms!

A powerlifting couple is challenging perceptions of disability and showing that determination, passion, and athletic achievement aren't defined by physical ability.

Their story is a powerful reminder of the importance of breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and creating opportunities for people with disabilities to pursue their passions.

Recreational therapy is more than just fun and gamesโ€”it's an essential part of helping people live fuller, more independent lives.

At Inglis House, our dedicated recreational therapists use creative arts, adaptive sports, technology, and meaningful activities to support residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being.

But as demand for these services grows, educational programs are disappearing, putting the future of this important profession at risk.

In this article, featured in the latest edition of Image Magazine, we explore why recreational therapy matters and why it's a profession we can't afford to lose.

๐Ÿ’š SAVE THE DATE ๐Ÿ’š

Join us on May 6th at Inglis BASH, as we celebrate our 150th anniversary and look ahead to whatโ€™s next.

For 150 years, Inglis has been leading the conversation about how people with disabilities can live the lives they want. And weโ€™ve put that commitment into action through accessible housing, assistive technology, employment opportunities, home modifications and specialized long-term care.

This year, weโ€™ll gather at the Please Touch Museum, near where Inglis began, for an evening of fun, inspiration and community. Weโ€™ll celebrate how far weโ€™ve come, the work weโ€™re doing today and all thatโ€™s still possible.

It was inspiring to come together last week at Cities of Inclusion/EmpathyTech with advocates, innovators, community leaders, and people with lived experience who share a commitment to building a more accessible and inclusive world.

There is still work ahead, but by listening, collaborating, and creating solutions together, weโ€™re building a world where people of all abilities have greater opportunities to live, work, connect, and thrive. Thank you to everyone who helped make this gathering so meaningful!

Through Inglis' Home Modifications for Independence program, we help people with disabilities and older adults make their homes safer, more accessible, and better suited to their individual needs.

From installing grab bars and ramps to making bathrooms and other living spaces more accessible, these modifications can make a big difference in helping individuals navigate their homes with greater confidence and independence.

Because everyone deserves to feel at home in their home. ๐Ÿ’™
