It's the simplest question a paralegal asks a medical provider, and most can't answer it same-day — because the balance only exists once somebody assembles it.
What a firm should be able to count on:
• The LOP back countersigned and dated, on file from the start
• A running balance available on request, not reconstructed when you ask
• Notice when the number moves materially, so a $6,000 balance doesn't become $11,000 the week you're negotiating
• One named billing contact who doesn't rotate
• Treatment status alongside the balance, so you know whether it's still growing
That's a record somebody maintains, not a report somebody builds. We're putting all of it in the attorney portal so you can pull it yourself.
