GROOKIES CBG is in and curing!
~
We rarely do clones, but when we discovered this amazing lady and took a look at the labs.. we were thrilled to get some cuts and find a place in our garden for them. Very special genetics bred by Doc Wheeler and preserved by -hendrx.farm- , Grookies has a unique profile with THC in the low 20’s and 5-7% CBG! We have been working on our own cultivars with elevated CBG and seeking it drug type outliers.

OUR NORTHERN LIGHTS IS IN!! We have finished harvesting NL-2 at Sugar Hill Farm. Now the long process of drying and curing takes place.
~
The backbone of modern indica breeding and hybrid development

Northern Lights (NL-1, NL-2, NL-5) is one of the most important modern cannabis cultivars. Selected in the Pacific Northwest around the turn of the 1980s and refined in the Netherlands soon after, Northern Lights became the parent stock behind an enormous share of what followed, Super Silver Haze and Shiva Skunk among them. It has been years since we grew NL at the farm, so we were thrilled to acquire seeds from a preservationist who work with some old stock that had been stored since 1983.

“NL-1” is the original variety of the Northern Lights line. It was first acquired in 1979 by Seattle Greg through the author Murphy Stevens as “Purest Indica,” eventually becoming the backbone of all of the Northern Lights hybrids. Over 40 years ago, Murphy Stevens worked with these genetics and developed the Northern Lights line of #1 through #11, with the #1 being closest to this original “Purest Indica” and the #11 being the most tropical and furthest from it. NL-5 is one of the most revered Northern Lights, with a classic experience of true Afghan Landrace genetics that will provide a very chill experience with some sativa Thai in the mix.

Bringing back to the nostalgia of our youth from the late 1970s, we are doing a trial run of our Thai Sticks which will be a limited released for the holidays. The Thai Sticks are our own cultivar which is Sumatra Aceh crossed to a 1970s chocolate Thai. Each stick is infused with a 1/4 gram of our own rosin and dusted with cultivar specific kief.
~
Sumatra Aceh, an ultraconservative Muslim-majority province at the northern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia, is Indonesia’s largest clandestine cannabis-producing region, despite strict national prohibition.
Long roots— Cannabis has been grown and used in Aceh for centuries, historically used as a traditional herb, medicine, vegetable seasoning, and drug use. Through the mid-20th century and up until the 1970s crackdown, cannabis was commonly grown in family backyards, mixed into local dishes (like cannabis curry), or brewed into illicit herbal drinks and coffee, as well as smoke. This landrace is known for its potent, stimulating, and “cerebral” psychoactive effect and was often characterized with strong feelings of euphoria, altered sensory perception, and increased energy initially.

Sugar’s (Sugar Hill Farm)— Black African Magic (Congo Landrace)
~
We’ve been growing this cultivar out for years at our farm and doing some selective breeding with it to bring out the traits that we prefer. It has a ways to go, but should be ready for harvest towards the end of the month.

E-Effects- TAKE THE SURVEY!

In 2023 we started a survey to help in our research on effects with some of our cultivars. Decades of prohibition during modern times has stifled research and paused our understanding of the effects and therapeutics of cannabis. We have gathered over 170 responses so far which will help in our own understanding of the plants we grow and how we can communicate with our customers to find the best product for them. Check out our new website, and if you are a customer… consider taking the survey. ✌️
