“They haven’t replied” is what happened.
“They’re sick of me” is what you’re making it mean.
And suddenly you’re responding to the second sentence as though they sent it themselves.
You’re replaying your tone. Reviewing the relationship. Drafting an explanation for something they haven’t said bothered them.
Sound familiar?
Try putting these next to each other
WHAT I KNOW They haven’t replied.
WHAT I’M ASSUMING They’re annoyed because I asked for something.
Now include the actual history. Have they told you there’s a problem? Is there a repeated pattern you need to take seriously? Or is the waiting leaving a lot of room for guesses?
You don’t have to replace the thought with “Everything is wonderful.” You can say, “I don’t know yet.”
Then decide whether there’s a useful action to take or whether you’re trying to get certainty that isn’t available right now.
That little distinction has helped me question a thought before treating it like an instruction.
What’s an assumption your mind presents like it has receipts? 😂
