My two fig trees gave me plenty of leaves this year…just not many figs. 😂 So, can fig leaves actually be useful?
Leaves from a common edible fig tree can wrap fish or vegetables, infuse recipes with a subtle coconut-vanilla aroma or be added to compost.
They contain interesting plant compounds, but human research on their health benefits is limited—so I’m using mine for flavor, not treating them as medicine.
One important caution: fresh fig sap can irritate skin and increase sensitivity to sunlight. Wear gloves and use only clean, untreated leaves from a known edible fig tree.
