We are excited to announce that Flowt Surfboards is an official partner for the 2025 Portugal Para Surf League Open, Hosted by the Portimão Surf Clube March 7-9th, 2025, and that the Alameda hostel Portimão has 14 beds available for athletes on a first come first serve basis, FREE for the event!

Progress Update!

Thanks to the generous support of our community members, friends, and family, we raised nearly 20% of our goal of $7,000 the cost of supporting one surf clinic for roughly 2 dozen participants next summer.

Why give to AmpSurf?

-A 2019 study looked at the effects of a 6-week surf therapy program for U.S. military service members, and found that surf therapy seemed to reduce depression and anxiety among participants and promote a more positive mood overall (Walter & Otis, et al., 2019)

-Research from 2017 showed that surfing helped improve social & interpersonal skills, and emotional regulation of nearly 50 children and adolescents that were surveyed (Gaspar de Matos et al, 2017).

Everyone deserves to reap these benefits.

AmpSurf focuses on ABILITIES by providing meaningful surfing experiences for ALL who want to participate.

-The U.S. Census reports that 20% of Americans (66 million) are living with a lifelong disability or condition.

-Activity Alliance reported in 2018 and 2019 that people with disabilities are twice as likely to be inactive as someone who is typically functioning, yet 7 in 10 (70%) are motivated to be more active to maintain or improve their health.

-Access to safe outdoor experiences for individuals with disabilities is often difficult due to physical obstacles like transportation or poor design of outdoor recreation spaces, and also biases like ableism, which make many feel unwelcome in outdoor spaces. (The Wilderness Society)

Had the opportunity to share the power of adaptive surfing at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation conference in San Diego this last weekend. We were able to share with the doctors, not only the power of adaptive surfing but training techniques and equipment used to take it to the next level of competitive para surfing using equipment like Flowt Surfboards and two of our sponsors, and Gibbon sponsor of USA Surfing.
Also want to thank Molly Timmerman from the Palo Alto VA and the San Diego VA team for helping making this happen.
