Centers for People With Developmental Disabilities and Behavioral Health Challenges: Improving Live

Since 1969, Milestone has passionately supported persons with intellectual disabilities, autism and behavioral health challenges. Services include outpatient counseling, community living sites, community participation supports, job coaching and supports that enhance like skills, vocational skills and independence. Milestone also provides services for persons with substance use disorders. Our two Health Care Quality Units, located in Butler and Warren, provide training and support to disability providers in 18 western Pennsylvania counties, thus setting the standard for care. Milestone has earned certification from the Sanctuary Institute as a provider of trauma-informed care.

A cool experience: People supported and staff at Milestone's Garden City Senior Center recently enjoyed a visit from the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium's . Our participants got up close and personal with a Pancake Tortoise, a Snake, a Blue-Tongued Skink, Zebra pelt, an Elephant tusk and an Ostrich egg & feather. Zoo staff shared a lot of interesting educational information about each animal.

We love starting the week with : a dream come true for Nate! 🏖️ Thanks to a grant from The Pittsburgh Foundation's Wish Book, Nate, a man supported by Milestone, fulfilled his wish to visit the beach during Exceptional Adventures' recent excursion to Cedar Point. The Pittsburgh Foundation's Wish Book is an annual giving initiative that highlights local nonprofits and connects them with donor-advised fundholders who can support their missions through charitable grants. Exceptional Adventures was included in the 2025 Wish Book and received funding. The grant also enabled Exceptional Adventures to purchase a Hoyer lift and shower wheelchair to support guests with limited mobility. Exceptional Adventures is extremely for this generous grant.
