We are grateful to the Community Empowerment Association for sharing Reggie’s story and recognizing the example he continues to set at 81.
Reggie reminds us that growing older does not mean giving up on our health, our dreams, or our purpose. We hope his journey encourages others to keep moving forward and living healthier and happier lives—one day at a time.

DAY 6 OF SOLIDARITY: Honoring Reginald (Reggie) Howze
Today, we stand with Reginald (Reggie) Howze, Senior Athlete • Wellness Advocate • Community Role Model
Why We Stand With Him:
I honor this man because, at 81, Reggie Howze is a powerful example of strength, perseverance, leadership, and purposeful living in Pittsburgh’s Black community. A National Senior Games medalist and recognized Athlete of the Month, Reggie continues to demonstrate that age is not a barrier to excellence, service, or making an impact. His dedication to fitness, healthy living, faith, and encouraging adults 50+ to live with purpose has inspired people both in our community and beyond.
His contributions have also been recognized locally with a mayoral proclamation establishing August 17 as “Reggie Howze Day.” Reggie also hosts his own podcast, where he shares his wisdom, experiences, and encouragement with an even wider audience. Through his example, his podcast, and our Living Well with Reggie & Shawna Howze platform, he continues to encourage others with a simple but powerful message: It’s never too late to live well.
