You probably know a parent whose child changed almost overnight.
Maybe it came after strep throat or a bad flu. A happy kid suddenly had rituals, rages, or tics. Maybe they stopped eating, or couldn't let go of Mom's hand at the bus stop. That parent has likely been told it's anxiety, or a phase.
Today, October 9, is PANS/PANDAS Awareness Day. PANS and PANDAS happen when the immune system, often after an infection, mistakenly targets the brain. The inflammation shows up as sudden changes in mood, behavior, and thinking.
The more people who know the signs, the sooner a family finds answers. That's the whole point of today. Tonight, landmarks around the world light up green.
We wrote a free guide for parents who know something changed and haven't found anyone willing to look for why. It covers the signs, what a full workup looks for, and a short self-check a parent can do at the kitchen table.
If a name came to mind, send this to them. π
