Fall and Vata Season
As the weather here in the U.S. starts becoming cooler, drier, windier, and more changeable, many of us begin to feel those changes too.
In Ayurveda, this is where the principle of “like increases like” is easy to understand. When the season carries more Vata qualities, some people may notice drier skin, variable appetite, gas or bloating, lighter sleep, more restlessness, or simply feeling a little more unsettled than usual.
This is where Ritucharya, the seasonal regimen of Ayurveda, is so practical.
The idea is not to follow a rigid seasonal checklist. It is to bring in the opposite qualities that help create balance: more warmth, nourishment, oiliness, steadiness, and regularity.
That may mean choosing freshly prepared warm meals, using warm oil regularly, protecting yourself from excessive cold and dryness, getting enough rest, and keeping a more consistent daily rhythm.
And just as importantly, seasonal care is never exactly the same for everyone. Your prakriti, vikriti, agni, strength, age, lifestyle, and local climate all matter.
