There’s something strangely satisfying about watching this… 🧴⚙️

Bottle after bottle of lipid-emulsified supplements, being filled at our California manufacturing site.

But what goes into the bottle is the interesting part.

Virun®, Inc., now powered by Wellma, we formulate creamy lipid emulsions designed to help improve the taste, stability and delivery of active nutrients — turning ingredients that can be difficult to formulate (and sometimes even harder to swallow) into smooth, consumer-friendly liquids.

Then we manufacture and fill them right here in California (as well as in our Irish facility), taking formulations from R&D bench to commercial production under one roof.

Science first. Precision filling. Very satisfying factory footage.

And yes… we could watch this loop for an unreasonable amount of time. 👌

Want to see how your ingredients could look (and taste) emulsified?

Virun NutraBioSciences , for more than 20 years, we’ve been challenging the way supplements are formulated. In Better Bioeconomy we are excited to announce the next chapter in that journey.

Virun® has officially joined the Welles family.

Our team has spent decades pioneering advanced emulsion and liposomal delivery technologies for ingredients including Omega-3, astaxanthin, CoQ10 and PQQ. Originally founded on pharmaceutical delivery science—our name even combines “virus” and “immune”—we’ve grown into one of the industry’s leading innovators, with more than 100 approved patents and development and manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, California, and County Kildare, Ireland.

Joining Wellma gives us an incredible opportunity to take our technologies even further. Together, we’re combining Wellma’s global reach with Virun’s expertise in advanced liquid and liposomal delivery—one of the fastest-growing areas of nutraceutical innovation.

This partnership also strengthens Wellma’s global manufacturing footprint, establishing its first facilities in both the United States and Ireland, while creating new opportunities for brands looking to launch and scale products across North America and Europe.

As Wellma’s thirteenth acquisition—and its first beyond its existing regions in the US—this marks an exciting milestone for both businesses. More importantly, it gives our customers access to even greater expertise, capabilities and international reach, while allowing us to continue doing what we’ve always done best: challenging convention and creating supplements that simply work better.

The future is looking decidedly more emulsified. ✨

Taste is a scientific requirement. 🔬

You can create the most bioavailable, clinically impressive supplement in the world—but if it tastes terrible, people won’t keep taking it.

At Virun®, Inc., we don’t “fix” flavor at the end with loads of sugar, tummy-distressing artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors, additives, or preservatives.

That’s not formulation. That’s camouflage.

Instead, we work with the natural flavor of the nutrients themselves: the chocolatey notes of astaxanthin, the herbal character of ashwagandha, and the creamy richness of ceramides. 🍒

Rather than masking these flavors, we complement them with real food ingredients, organic oils, and carefully engineered lipid delivery systems.
The result is less fake, no unnecessary filler, and supplements that absorb properly and actually taste like food.

Because when people enjoy taking a product, they keep taking it.
And that’s when the ingredients finally get the chance to do their job.

The last 23 years have led to this moment. I couldn't be more proud, or more humbled, to begin this new chapter alongside Wellma. At VIRUN, we never sought a partner simply to accelerate growth. We waited for the right partner... one that shared our belief that innovation should leave a legacy measu...

If you’ve been in a meeting with Virun®, Inc.®, you’ve likely heard this before.

Unconventional, perhaps. But absolutely true when it comes to liposomes.

Just as a chef creates a smooth, stable hollandaise by carefully balancing butter, water, heat and technique, exceptional formulators balance phospholipids, oils, water and processing conditions to create a creamy, elegant emulsion.

A great chef doesn’t hide poor ingredients. They create harmony.

And a great liposomal formulator doesn’t simply encapsulate nutrients. They engineer stability, texture, mouthfeel and flavor.

As our CEO, Philip Bromley, says:

“The best liposomal formulators think like French sous-chefs.”

Because when liposomes are done properly, they don’t just work beautifully.

They taste amazing too.

And that’s a wrap on Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Chicago 2026! 🌳

What a brilliant few days—catching up with old friends, making some fantastic new connections and talking all things formulation, emulsions and innovation.

People flocked to meet our very own W***y Wonka, explore the Virun®, Inc. Tree House and sample what we’ve been creating. Apparently, turning supplements into something people actually enjoy is still considered rather novel.

Outside the show, we also managed to enjoy a little Chicago magic, from
Chinatown to the Irish Embassy, plus some very impressive views of the city.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a chat, tried an emulsion or came over to see what all the fuss was about. You kept us very busy, slightly over-caffeinated and fully entertained.

Exactly how we like it.
