“Your child doesn’t need a lecture during a meltdown. They need a parent who can stay calm when they can’t.” 💛

Have you ever told your child to stop crying, only to see them cry even harder?

You repeat, “Calm down!”
You explain why they shouldn’t be acting that way.
Sometimes, you lose your patience, too.

And afterward, you feel guilty because you know you could have handled it better.

Mama, take a breath. You’re learning, too. ❤️

When your child is having a meltdown, they may not be ready to listen to explanations or follow instructions. Their emotions are overwhelming them, and they need help learning how to manage those big feelings.

Instead of saying, “Stop crying. You’re overreacting!”

Try saying:
🌿 “I’m here with you.”
🌿 “I can see you’re really upset.”
🌿 “It’s okay to feel angry. I won’t let you hurt yourself or others.”
🌿 “Would you like a hug or some space?”

Remember: You can accept your child’s feelings without accepting every behavior.

You can set boundaries without shaming them. You can teach without yelling. And you can correct your child while still making them feel loved.

Your goal isn’t to raise a child who never cries or gets angry.

It’s to raise a child who gradually learns how to handle those feelings—with your guidance.

And that learning starts with how we respond to them today. 💕
