Ok, so what would you give for a day OFF?
Think about it (more like fantasize about it!🙂)

Blood sugar? Who cares?
Amount of Carbs? No matter!
Juice Rescue? Leave at home!
Insulin? Don’t need it!
CGM? What’s THAT?
Meter? Is this Trash?
It’s Mealtime? I’m not hungry!
Don’t wanna exercise? Don’t!
Go With The Flow?
KNOCK YOURSELF OUT‼️

⚠️Vulnerable Post⚠️
So Friends- if you look to the photo on the left, sadly, I have seen this alarm on my CGM many more times this summer than I would care to mention. I have always believed there is a rhyme/reason to when one’s blood sugar is on either extreme of the scale, but I must admit to several occasions of total and complete “befuddlement” (is this a word? It should be if not) and even several times that my expertly talented Endo can not explain.
The heat of the summer did not help (have I mentioned this over the aforementioned months? HA!)
This however has been an entirely different animal and I have consistently been giving myself LARGE correction boluses often times with little response.
The bottom line?
It’s been Diabetic “Thunderdome” around here!
Hence, my decision to go back on an insulin pump- or CSII as it’s abbreviated (Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion).
I have 24 years experience being on a pump (I was one of 10 folks put on a pump in Utah back in 1985) and ended in 2014 just to “take a break”. Seeing as how I work with people with diabetes, I wanted to experience Lantus/Humalog. It was great for a few years but this transition back to a pump is LONG overdue.
And my kidneys are now struggling. They’re struggling hard after 46 years of this burden and I have to get the glucose right. One issue that T1D’s face is constantly labile readings. This means numbers that are very dynamic; moving up & down/down & up and everything in between often with no explanation. Erratic patterns that aren’t really even “patterns” at all! And this has just got to stop.
So this is what I’ve been battling especially over these last months- another reason I’ve wanted to see the summer drift far away from my rearview mirror.
So if you’re of the “praying” type, I’d love if you can offer up one that pump therapy will be successful for me. If you’re one who offers good juju and great karma- would gladly accept a vote of confidence. I sure appreciate you people! You have ALL been so kind and supportive of me and my goofy posts. It means the world to me in a way I can’t adequately express. And for the record- when you get a bind and need the favor returned-you can bet I’m the one to call ☎️.

Added note- Tandem pump was picked up today at 1700 hours. Got some important stuff to do tomorrow then pump is #1 Priority. Even took a 30 day leave of absence starting Monday. Yes- you can say with certainty- I’m pUmPed 😉!

Fall is almost here! 🍂 Cooler mornings, changing leaves, cozy meals, and a fresh season are right around the corner.

A change in seasons can also mean a change in routines. For those living with diabetes, it can be a good time to check in with the habits that help you feel your best, whether that’s getting outside for a walk, planning meals, staying on top of medications, or simply finding a routine that works for you.

We’d love to hear from our community: **What are you most looking forward to this fall?** 🍎🍁🎃

I Really Do.
We’ve got ALOT to handle.
ALOT on our mind all the time.
I REALLY hope you can take this Sunday to rest from it all a bit. Enjoy the final SUMMER weekend, and if you’re lucky 🍀 enough to have tomorrow off too, by ALL means, be kind to yourself! YOU COME FIRST.

As for me? I’m going on a ridiculously unnecessary mini-roadtrip to the Oregon Coast with my Fella and my Mutt.
To see the ocean for the last time in ‘26 and to get a corn dog! (Much of this is about getting the corn dog!)

Yep! 160 round-trip miles for a hot dog enrobed in corn meal, and sizzling hot! Drenched in ketchup! (Does it honestly get any better than that?)
Make something REALLY GOOD happen for you, won’t you? Be kind to your diabetes by being kind to yourself.
Life is about Joy after all, and often times let’s face it- for us- Joy can run in short supply. Let’s take today to focus on the “Happy.” Make a list if you have to! You might be surprised at how much of it is out there😉

Ok Friends, we gotta get back to the basics today.
I’ve been hearing a good deal of this nonsense over the past couple of weeks, and quite frankly, it “ignites my inner-Karen!”
Please read and memorize this list- if for no other reason but to keep me from having a heart attack, stroke or brain bleed!
It’s NOT 1942 folks. We know SO much more about diabetes now than we ever have- and these things listed below are simple facts. Anyone who disagrees is outdated (and frankly) DUMB!
Also- please don’t compare your diabetes to your Aunt Beatrice’s cousin’s Mailman. Just because he “died a horrible death from diabetes in 1964” doesn’t mean you will!

Wow Friends- Delicious and not too much! Two nights out of three with that pesky alarm going off! After a quick swig of juice, one package of these babies and I was good to go. 20 grams CHO, buttery and delicious! One pack is 4 square cookies and just enough to have me sailing back to dreamland without any trouble and I’m not starting my morning with a monster-bolus from the Shenanigans the night before. Try and see if it works for you and share your discoveries with us! We’re ALL in this together after all😉

It’s Sunday.
The week ahead is long.
I’m going to regroup.
Say Goodbye to Summer.
Look forward to Fall.
But most of all? I’m going to tell my diabetes to go take a LONG walk on a SHORT pier.
I need a break. And I’m taking it.
Not sure what that means yet. But I’ll let you know when I do.
